Tominator
Well, here I sit, 2+ weeks of hunting nearly every night, neglecting my family and new home with only 1 shooter buck sighting. This weekend is youth season, week after that is Thanksgiving week, week after that and the combat zone kicks off in Ohio. After that, your odds of tagging a decent buck go way down. I'm going to give it the "ol' college try" a couple nights this week in the area where I saw the shooter, we'll see what happens. I guess you can't shoot a big buck every year. The_Kat
I'm beginning to wonder if all my time in the stands gonna pay off or not myself. Keep at it though....it just takes one buck to change a season. Thats what I keep telling myself at least. Hope ya knock down a bruiser buddy. SourthenILdeerhunter
Our combat zone starts off this weekend and man dose it ever sound like a war where i hunt and im on private land!!!
muggs
You should come up to Portage Co...big buck central.:laser: Keep the faith man...it will happen for you.
Ohiobucks
I had my chance yesterday......it is now my son's turn. I'll be "guiding" him this weekend for youth season. This should be fun, because it will be like in West Virginia - any 4 point scrub buck or better is going down!
joeaveragehunter
At least you seen one... my motivation is I heard two fighting fifty yards away and couldn't see (too thick). Sounded like a five car pile up though
wtnhunt
Good luck Chris, gun opens here this weekend, and it likely will sound like a war zone. Think my best shot for killing one with the bow was the time frame while I was at Randy's place. With the changes to our seasons for this year, don't know if I will even get back out with the bow. We are in our ml season now and Catrina did see a really good buck here last Wednesday, just a tad too far for her comfort.
pointing_dogs_rule
I know how you feel. Been the same for me this year. Frustrating!!!! Good luck to all the dog
hoosierhunter
It's been a rough year for me in IN as well. I've hunted my rear end off since late Oct. and I haven't seen a shooter! Not a normal year for sure. Even my trail cams are slow......

BowTech292
Same in Louisiana, nothing doin' here either, harvested 1 (shooter) scrub buck, management deer. At least he is out of the gene pool and in the sausage sack. Hope it changes soon, ML season here too-and the war zone opens here Sat. morning. Didn't get a look at a deer on youth weekend, but done told my 5 yr old, he can shoot at every one till he kills. He has never shot at one, and it is my mission to change that this year...........wish us luck
Slash
Seems all over the country the deer are disappearing.
arrow32
Good luck. Our gun season opens up next week. I've not been hunting a ton this year only been out about 14 times very low number for myself at this point in the game but just into it this year at all. I've only saw 3 bucks while hunting and none of them shooters. Really going to put some serious time in the stand come December even tho it'll be much harder. I'm frustrated and not having the drive to go either.
Doc
It's amazing how some years it seems so easy, and we start actually thinking that we can re-create success on command. However, there are always plenty of years to bring us back to reality (like this one for me), and we are once again reminded of just why it is called "hunting". It's a good thing that the harvest is not the only reward. Doc
Tominator
Got skunked last night, LMAO. I took the stand and clothes tote out of the truck. I'm done. Time to get to work. LOL It was fun.

Ohiobucks
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Heck no!

Jorden
I get it. This year is the second one where hunting has absolutely stunk. This saturday starts the rifle season here and after thats over the season gets real tough. Gotta keep trying though I guess..
ruttinbuc
I am having one of those years, too. Have not been attacking like I should be I guess. Seems I give the spots a break and return to nothing. Deer seem to be night time and there are some different cars in the lot...and stands on the fence..... No excuses though. Got to keep plugging!
Adjam5
Keep swingin' Chris. Can you bow hunt during firearms season? OR Time is the biggest factor?
Tominator
Keep swingin' Chris. Can you bow hunt during firearms season? OR Time is the biggest factor? Yep, we can bowhunt during lead flinging week. I actually just load up the Encore and sit in my field during gun season, mostly to keep tresspassers at bay, but shooting that ML is fun.
