It's been raining hard on and off for a few days now. The wind's been howling at 50 to 72K knocking down trees and taking out power. Today the river that we have to cross to get into town is above flood stages and so every bridge has been closed down.

We didn't realize this, so this morning we packed Wilf's deer into the back of the truck to take to the butchers shop on the other side of town. We were also going to do some banking for Ken and then stop in to see him in hospital.

Well we got down to the bottom of the hill and around the cornier and saw nothing but water everywhere and cop cars blocking every intersection. We stopped and asked an RCMP member how we could get into town and was told we would have to travel up island and across, then back down to get into the back side of town. That's about 75 Km one way.

So instead we went to the closest Timmies and got Ken a coffee and some timbits and went to visit him.

We're expecting more rain tonight and the winds have already started to pick up again.

Wilf's deer is spending a night in the truck. We'll see what tomorrow brings.:)

That's sounds like some bad weather, hope it clears for you guys quick.

Got some questions though.

1. What is a RCMP member?

2. How far is 75Km in miles?

3. What are timbits?

:D

Oops sorry, forgot I was talking Canadian again.

RCMP- Royal Canadian Mounted Police. (they only ride horses in parades these days)LOL

75K is about 45 miles

Timbits are tiny doughnuts supposedly made when the hole is cut out of the big doughnuts. (or is that spelled donuts?):)

My brain now has three more wrinkles!

We call them donut holes here. :)

batten down the hatches buckee and doe storm #3 comes tommorrow for u guys in the morniing and for us the late afternoon heavy rains and strong winds again and if u guys should see 2 trash can lids over your way blowing by they are probably mine lol

It's definitely been one of those "garbage can lid swap" sort of fall, hasn't it doogie. :)

This afternoon wasn't too bad. we(Diana and I) even made it out for an evening hunt. Diana managed to get a nice nubber on video , but no big boys showed where I was sitting.:)

I hope that next storm isn't as bad as these past ones. At least the roads were open into town today.

Dan, you crack me up! :clown:

Yeah, Dan has a way of cracking things up .:clown::clown:

Well, the storms are back again tonight, with hurricane force winds and tons of rain. I imagine we'll be flooded out of town again tomorrow. A lot of places without power, with tree coming down everywhere.

I just got back from the coast this evening and sure saw some of the nasty weather Steve and Diana are talking about. My wife and I visited our daughter for a few days on a small island between Vancouver and Victoria (Victoria is about 140 miles south of buckee - and we got the same storms). Fortunately, we got off the island on the first ferry yesterday morning; by the afternoon, dozens of ferry sailings throughout the area were cancelled.

Batten down the hatches there, folks.
