If and when they catch him, dip him in honey, and send him up here. I'd love to take him bear hunting. I could buy another tag, and my buddies could buy a few too. We'd have the best bear hunt ever, even though it is illegal to bait bears here. We'll just tell the game warden he wore the wrong aftershave. :):)

OH..and send up Clint with some camera gear. We'll have to get this hunt on film. :)

If there was any hope of insurance coverage, all of the theft would be with a home owner's or renter's policy. They would likely had to have had a theft rider for "off premises" and even in that circumstance would be limited by a percentage of the "on premise" value. Then on top of that they will apply the deductable which in most cases is $500 to $1000 which beats up a pretty good share of most costs in small theft cases. If you have replacement value, you will only get the actual replacement costs if you actually go out and replace the item (minus the deductable of course). Then for larger ticket items, the insurance company may have wanted the items to have been listed seperately on the original policy, which obviously entails additional premiums to be paid.

Your vehicle insurance will only cover the costs of the damage to parts of the actual vehicle and not the contents within it. Of course again, the insurance company will get an estimate of damage, then apply the vehicle insurance deductable, which again is likely $500 to $1000. So in the case of vehicle B&E, you likely have a broken door lock or window which usually falls under the deductable amount anyways.

So it's bad enough that someone has violated your personal space and property, then you get the same feeling of violation from the insurance company, and that one is all legal (so sayeth the insurance company). And of course there's always the old insurance comeback, "Didn't you read the small print?".

And it does feel like you have been violated when this type of thing happens. I've been down this very road myself. It ain't no fun!

Hope things turn out, in that the slug gets caught (and convicted) and some level of coverage from the insurance companies is forthcoming.

TBow
