I hate sighting in the shot gun

Spent probably 2 hours with Andy getting my gun sighted in...went through 3 boxes of Federals and a box of Remingtons from last year and guess what!? My gun hates the Federals more than Remingtons....could not get the Federals to even hit near the same area...they were all over. Put in the Rems. and could get them to group better. I think the barrel on my gun is shot or something...the new Nikon scope is great...it's even better when you have brackets on it that hold it still. First time around the first set of brackets, the scope moved when I shot! Now Andy couldn't budge it with his hands but shooting moved the scope...so he found another set of brackets and it seems to be staying in the same spot. So no more Rem. slugs so Andy had to go out and he'll hopefully find some.

I like archery way way better. I actually took the barrel off my old Mossberg and put it on my Mossberg for turkey hunting...

All seems ok now...sighted in at 70 yards...never even shot one that far out, lol. What a pain in the butt though.:hammer1:

...and if you had waited this long to sight in your Bow(only days before the season opens):nono: you would be kicking yourself in the butt right about now right???:hammer1:

A Shotgun or Rifle are just like a Muzzleloader in the respect that they need You to workup the right load for them.

You start well ahead of time to find what shoots best, correct any problems, and get everything working right..well before the season starts.

You have the time to get it to a gunsmith/shop and have it checked to make sure eveything is right and wont move. It would be worth what small amount you'd pay.

I wont go into the fact that to be more efficient you should have been shooting it during the year!

Next time you shoot have someone watch and make sure you are not flinching. 12 ga. slugs are PUNISHING and no fun to shoot. You don't say if your barrel is rifled or not, but I seriously doubt you have "shot out" a slug barrel. Relatively low pressure, temps and velocity combined with soft lead slugs or plastic sabots simply makes it next to impossible to "shoot out" a modern chrome moly barrel. Also, make sure you are keeping your barrel clean, especially if you're using the foster type "rifled slugs". Try some lok tight on those mount screws to help keep them secure. Just a few thoughts.
