The_Kat
My season started off slow and any deer I saw busted me. But the last two weeks have more than made up for it. I have seen more shooter bucks this season than all my other years combined. No shots sadly, but I have passed a few decent bucks waiting on the big one. I have my eyes set on two bucks I have seen a few times. Ones a big tall dark 8 and the other is a huge 10. They are all over the place where I've been hunting lately. Just this morning I heard what I thought was a racoon only to hear a deer blow seconds later and then hear deer running my way. It turns out the coon was a mature buck who was running a one antlered buck the heck outta dodge. They ran right passed me, but they weren't stopping for anyone. Yesterday I saw a decent 9 that I almost pulled the trigger on and had deer coming in really late. Ended up setting til way after dark to let em clear out. The day before that I saw the big 10. He was trailing a doe. Later that evening I missed a doe. Before that was all the excitement at Kevins place. I know it's just a matter of time before I connect. Tonight will be my last archery hunt until I fill my rifle tag. I'll be heading to NW Oklahoma to chase the Kansas line deer. Honestly I'm looking right past rifle season and whatever deer I may shoot, and onto my next hunts here at home with my bow. I hope I'm not the only one in the action lately. It's been a season full of memories!
Gator
From what I understand, bucks don't blow, but that's just what I heard!!!:clown: Sounds like you definately been in the thick of things bud!!! BowTech292
Kat, my season started off the same way, however on Oct. 23rd I did take out a management buck, then back to the same ole crap, I haven't seen a deer since.
redkneck
From what I understand, bucks don't blow, but that's just what I heard!!!:clown: I've seen a buck blow, it's not common, and just a short quick deep snort. Sounds like you've had a better season than me Kyle. I've taken a couple of does with my bow, but seen no shooters other than on cam so far. Saturday starts regular rifle season and I'll start hunting with my rifle some, we'll see how that goes.
The_Kat
Just blew a chance on a nice buck. Got in late and wa adjusting my stand when big boy comes in at 35 yards. My bow laying on the ground..... I'm sick right now. I have been after a good buck and finally have it all pan out and I'm 5 minutes too late. I can't believe it. Dawg
I've seen one small buck on the property I have leased since season opened. It is pathetic there. I went out to the Angelina National Forest on Tuesday morning and saw 5 does. I'm really getting discouraged. Sounds like you are covered in deer though. Hate that you messed up on the big boy. I'm sure you'll get another chance.
arrow32
That sucks that your bow was on the ground. This past week the action has picked up for myself to this morning was kinda slow but have saw the most deer this week than any other week this season. Just not seeing the bucks I want to be seeing. hungry hunter
I have seen 2 bucks this year, One got away at 15 yards and the other is resting in my freezer. Lots of does and 1 bear a 30 yards. Still got almost 2 months of hunting left. Good luck Kyle.
