Ok for starters i wont even talk about the kind of year bow hunting ive had. After being a die hard Muzzy fan, i have officially retired them.

Wanted to know very honest opinions on the rage 2 . I have watched, talked with, and now even shot the pratice blade. Wow so far im impressed, please give me your honest experience, blood trails, thru bone, all that can be expected bowhunting.:hammer1:

Thanks ladies and gents!

Not a wise choice my friend. You will miss the bone splitting penetration of the muzzy if you are a little of the mark. Don't get me wrong rage will make a highway bloodtrail if you are right on the mark. Lets face it though when actually taking a shot at a deer your shot may not be the best you hoped for compared to your bullseye target shooting. There are alot of variables that can alter your shot- wind, branch deflection, wrong yardage estimate, deer movement, shot angle and of course buck fever to name a few. Just my 2 cents you will be back on Muzzy's its just a matter of when.

I like Rage 2 blade broadheads but I can't use them here in South Dakota because they are over 1 7/8" in diameter. I took a nice antelope buck in Wyoming with one and couldn't have been more pleased. However, I shoot Muzzy MX-3s (an excellent broadhead in my opinion) while hunting in South Dakota.

Only knock I could put on the Rage is that in identical shooting situations, a Muzzy will get more penetration than the Rage. I've shot 2 or 3 deer, point blank (10 to 12 yards) with a Rage and Muzzy and I've never got ground penetrating pass throughs with the Rage. A muzzy at that range will get pass through and stick in the ground at least 3".

I like the rage and will continue to nock them up when I have the $$$$$ to buy them.

my setup consist of shooting 340 ft per sec a pretty fast set up i took two deer with my newly aquired rage this year i shot a buck high with a montec never found any blood,, so i switched to rage tooke a doe on a hard quartering away shot entered in front of her back leg came out between the two shoulder cutting the heart right in half, she ran 70 yards my 8 year old brother followed the trail no problem my arrow was in the ground 6 inches

then a couple weeks ago i took a 9 pointer double lung huge hole going in and coming out no problem following the blood trail again when i use my little brother as my blood hound seen him fall within sight, i haven't had a problem like other people say that have so ill still continue to use these broadheads..

the real reason why i like these broadheads is that everyone says that with a perfect shot you wont need a two inch hole going in and coming out but lets face it this is bowhunting, and bowhunting is never perfect,, if it helps you find deer that are marginally hit than why not use it

another experience my uncle shot a buck to far back in the guts the deer went 100 yards again with the large hole he was able to find blood and parts of the insides hanging on some bushes.

He also shot a doe in the shoulder he shoots 70 lb outback and he had no problem with the penetration he said he got a complete pass through at 22 yards

I love the Muzzy and the penetration.

This year I tried the Rage because I heard so much about the damage to internal organs on marginal shots. I shot a doe at 12 yards and only 1/2 of the arrow went into her. I watched where she went and 2 hours later (after waiting) I found her piled up dead. The shot was a little far back (guess I peeked), however, the doe had intestines hanging out the side and there was lots of damage to internal organs.

All in all, I was happy with the damage they caused, however, I was disappointed with the penetration.

Good luck to all

i only shoot muzzys. they are tuned to my arrows and since i havent had any bad experiences with them for 15 years, i just keep using them. 1 bear, 3 coyotes, 5 spring toms, 1 wild boar, 14 deer and 2 antelope. as long as i put my arrows where it counts, them Muzzys just keep popping out the other side.

broadheads are only as good as where you put them. even the biggest cut broadhead is worthless if you dont put it into vital organs.

I'm a diehard fixed blade bowhunter. I shoot muzzy and have never had any reason to switch. This year I found a new favorite with the mx'4's!...Rages do sound appealing, little to no tuning, large cutting diameter etc...but honestly I want a broadhead that by design will not fail!

My dad shot the Rage 2's this year. He shot a nice heavy 8 pointer. The shot ended up being a little back, he got back end of lungs and liver. The blood trail was long and very sparse, one drop here, another drop there. The broadhead did cut 2 ribs in half and he got a complete pass through. Long story short, it really was an awesome hunt! I was so happy for him, it was my dad's biggest buck to date!

But so far that's been my only personal experience with them. I know a lot of people love them, but my opinion is if they failed 1 time out of 100 thats reason enough for me to steer clear. Some bowhunters love em, others hate em. I've heard love stories and horror stories. The bottom line is you'll have to decide for yourself. Good luck!
