What grain and kind of bullet is she using? We are using 150 grain core lokts in the .270 Tom. My 13 year old is about 5'3" and around 95 lbs. This doe from this year was not with the .270 but with her .243, but gives you an idea of how small my daughter is. She shoots my .270 very well. Texan_Til_I_Die
These are actual measured results of recoil: 270 Win 130 gr @ 3140 fps from an 8 lb rifle = 16.5 ft/lbs of recoil 308 Win 150 gr @ 2800 fps from a 7.5 lb rifle = 15.8 ft/lbs of recoil
DocMort
My girlfriend shoots my 300 WSM no problems, its all consistent with loads, rifle weight and design of stock. The 270 is a great cartridge and you can't go wrong with it though.

It is the rifle that has been in continous production longer than any. The reason for that is that they got it right the first time around. I would suggest you look into buying a Model 700 in 270 Win. If you are planning on huntiing anything bigger than antelope. The 243 might be a little on the weak side for larger game. The Model 70 while a good gun has been redesigned over and over again. They get it right and then they change something in order to save a few dollars in the production process. The black shadow model was one of the last model 70's to come out of the original production facilities. To put it delicatly the quality control at winchester by that time left something to be desired. Now I know everyone is going to say they have a black shadow and it is a wonderful gun. This is probably true, and Chevy made woderful cars. But a Porsche is a wonderful car too. If you want a Chevy buy a Winchester 70. If you want a Porsche, buy a Remington 700 :gun2: Exactly! Ive never shot a Model 70 but will always stick with the Remington 700...can't go wrong with it. it feels great, functions great, and looks great. I'll probably never use a rifle for big game hunting (or probably any other type of hunting) other than a Remington 700. And like hunterbob said, the .270 is a great caliber for big game and i'm also looking into getting a Remington 700 CDL in .270. So in my opinion, the 700 models are the best thing around!
