cb11
Was lucky enough to get this guy on opening morning of rifle season. Got several trail cam pics of him over the last few months so we were all hoping to get a chance at him. Shot him at 228 yards on the move, he was walking into a thick patch of pines and I knew he would disappear if he made it to them. He is 22" outside, 20" inside and weighed in around 180 pounds. cb11
Thx. I wish we had thought about spraying him down after gutting him before we started taking photos but it was almost 70 degrees and we were in a hurry to get this guy to the cooler. Here's a pic from the field.

NC8point
Do you know how much land is leasing for around your parts
cb11
Sorry but I've never looked into it. I'm a member of a small hunting club of mostly family owned land and we have about 1,500 acres that we hunt which is plenty for us.

tp793
Beautiful deer, man. What kind of mount did you go with?
cb11
Actually it should be pretty unique. A buddy of mine killed a piebald doe about 20 miles away and my taxidermist wants to do full body mounts on both and use them in shows around the state. Here's a pic of the two of them in the truck being delivered to him. He's got a little work to do on her underside, my buddy wasn't thinking when he gutted her. tp793
That is really cool. Rare enough to see a piebald get shot, let alone two in the same day. Their markings are similar, possible relatives? Or does that have nothing to do with it?
cb11
They were actually killed a week apart. The doe was killed the last Saturday of black powder season. I'm not sure about the chance of them being related. I know deer can travel a long ways so maybe. I did read that a piebald buck has a 65% chance of having a piebald offspring. hoosierhunter
All I can say is that better be a full body mount because a deer like that doesn't come around often!!!!
toddyboman
WOW what are the odds of that!! Congrats to you both!! Hate to pay the bill on the fully body mount.....but I am sure I would :D
