sskybnd
seen, ive tried tinks 69, the can, grunt call, and cant buy a buck to come by. i could have killed 9 does in 3 days and not one of them had a buck in tow, just cant figure it out, seems like i missed it some how, last year you could hear the bucks grunting all over the place, this year not a sound:bummed:
cb11
I don't know about where you are, but here it seems to have started just last week. I still haven't seen nearly as many bucks chasing as I did the last two years.
NC8point
I don't know about where you are, but here it seems to have started just last week. I still haven't seen nearly as many bucks chasing as I did the last two years. The same here started about ten days ago or so but I haven't and the guys in my club haven't seen as many bucks chasing the girls this year not sure why. I was able to grunt a decent eight pointer in Mon. am.
The_Kat
Rut was not early Rob....it was late. At least in SE Okla and thats not far from you. I wouldn't be one bit suprised if ya didn't have action kicking up with this cool front pushing through. My buddy killed a buck last thursday and he wasn't swollen or stinky. Bucks up here in NW Okla and just getting into the lock down phase of rut. Theres still alot of good action yet to come buddy....stay positive! Best of luck! wtnhunt
Tell me about it, this week is usually pretty good around here. Don't know what is going on, but I have seen less bucks this year than I have seen in a long long time around here and not even hearing so many shots as we normally do. Had seen probably 15-20 different bucks by this time last year and think I have seen maybe 4 or 5 so far this year. Had 3 does walk by me Saturday morning, had 5 does come through Sunday morning, not a single buck. Thought for sure there would be some bucks come through with those does around, but nothing. We did see some does getting pushed around back the beginning of the month, and the wife saw the big 8 following a doe a week and a half ago. Maybe things were kicking early and I missed all the action while I was gone to Wisconsin.
backwoods07
It was late in Illinois, and almost non existent. I guess having 2,000 acres of standing corn around will do that.
Turkeygirl
I think the rut got going a little late here in NY as well....hadn't really even started till the very end of archery andn ow with shotgun...well...haven't seen anything, must be locked down with does or something... Texan_Til_I_Die
During the last week of October, it was wide open chasing in West Texas, then the heatwave hit and wham - nothing. My best guess is that most of it is happening at night. Either that, or the deer are waiting for some colder weather. I'm still seeing a lot of bucks, in fact I saw 9 Saturday morning, but they were all small. The big guys have really been in hiding so far this year. NBomb500
Rut was going on back home in MT a couple of weeks ago. Should be getting peak now coming up on Thanksgiving week/weekend.

I kinda agree with you I think there are locked down with the does so maybe soon they will be back up searching for some food
philray
I got back from Pushmahata County in Southeast Oklahoma and had the same problems. We saw a few does but no bucks. Very little shooting going on and it was on public land. A man shot a buck that was camped close to us and the neck was not swollen at all. Three weeks ago during muzzleloader season the deer were really moving, but this weekend was terrible. I saw four does in three days. Very very frustrating. Stinger-Hunter
Same here in NW Indiana - I haven't seen a buck in the field all year and I've spent about 200 hours hunting. I, too, have tried rattling, The Can, my tried and true doe-in-heat urine combination + the Doe-in-heat aerosol can. Nothing. I'm going out on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Hopefully, things will be better.
redkneck
Got a little while to go here till rut gets into full swing. The buck I killed saturday was getting a pretty good musk about him and neck swollen out pretty good though. Haven't seen any chasing, really no bucks here hitting the plots to speak of. Had nine big does in the field yesterday and not a single buck. It wont be long though and the action will pick up. I wouldnt think MS and AR ruts would be that far apart? Ours usually is in full swing around the middle of Dec.
coondog
Tell me about it I am out of hunting time for the season going to be a dry deerless year. I let a few young bucks walk early on and powder season maybe one of them will be a good one next year. May squezze out a archery deer late if I can get to the timber. ruttinbuc
The rut went night time here. Saw some activity but not enough to feel the excitement of bow hunting. Got downright boring here in November. I had more action in September it seems.
