Ashley
You're disappointed with THAT!? He is a nice one! I haven't seen ANYTHING yet with a rack worth shooting. *shakes head* Kyle, come on now. You're making the rest of us feel bad who haven't shot anything yet Hahaha! Congrats to you though, awesome buck!
woolybear
That's a great buck Kyle. With another buck tag left, I wouldn't sweat taking that dude. At least you wont regret not taking him later if things don't pan out for ya. Just don't let it happen again now that you know what your really looking for. Congrats to ya! total disaster
I pass those deer because I have goals. Everyone has goals in hunting, and those goals differ from everyone. My dissappointment comes from the hours I spent on stand this season letting deer like this go waiting on a true monster. I'm thankful for the oppurtunity to hunt with my uncle and take a deer. One correction, I was on private land this morning in NW Oklahoma. I have hunted on some semi public state regulated land this weekend where I passed the decent 8's. Thank you all for your comments on the deer. I still have another buck tag too just stop and think of the guys that spend all season and not even see a buck ....IMO if you are dissapointed you should spend your time at work instead of hunting ....then those hours aren't "wasted" I am not a big deer hunter but I do know that hours in the field means nothing to the enjoyment I get being outside Edited November 24, 2009 by total disaster

redkneck
Not a bad deer at all Kyle, and lots of character to boot. I'd do something with him for sure if you dont do a full mount, maybe a skull mount at least.
Muleyman
if I shot that thing I wouldn't be able to stand up I would be shakin so bad. In my mind that is an AWESOME buck.
NiteRunner
You have another buck tag and you're still disappointed? To each their own I guess. Sure he's not the biggest, but still NICE! Be happy and thankful!
bloodtrails
why be disappointed! thats a great deer! **** any deer is a great deer. just appreciate your time out there and be thankful for your kill!!
Texan_Til_I_Die
You and I seem to think pretty much the same when it comes to deer, but I'd say that one is gnarly enough to judge worthy. Congrats.
Ohiobucks
That is a fine buck Kyle, nothing wrong with that one. Character. Buuuuuut....not sure what you are looking for here. Ultimately, you pulled the trigger. If you weren't sure of the bucks caliber and you have goals, why pull the trigger? Don't let your uncle pressure you into a shot. Sounds like your uncle has different goals than you do, let him shoot it next time. Again, nice buck, congrats brother!
JimT
Dude... there is nothing wrong with that deer. It would look great on anyones wall.
The_Kat
just stop and think of the guys that spend all season and not even see a buck ....IMO if you are dissapointed you should spend your time at work instead of hunting ....then those hours aren't "wasted" I am not a big deer hunter but I do know that hours in the field means nothing to the enjoyment I get being outside Your taking it all outta context my man. I enjoy the time spent outdoors with family and friends. Id much rather be hunting than working anyday. I guess there are just some differences in our goals like I said. To those hunters that hunt all season and don't see a buck, I can't help that. Where I live seeing deer, big deer at that, is common. I have hunted WAY WAY WAY more than your average hunter, and passed deer comparable to this buck. Thats where the dissappointment comes in. My goal this year was to shoot a 140 or better wall hanger. I can still acheive this goal, but its gonna be alot harder now. And I have decided since this is my first non typical to go ahead and do a full shoulder mount. But please don't take my post of dissappointment outta context. There just comes a point in time when some ( note the word some )hunters choose to harvest mature deer instead of 1.5-2.5 year old deer. JimPic
Nice buck..very unique and I'm sorry to say but if your hunting experience is based on just something to hang on the wall, you're in it for the wrong reasons. I guess I just don't understand the horn porn thing

dbHunterNY
Hunting is not about how big the deer is that we get. Although, in general a bigger deer is something we work harder for and get more excited about. My smallest buck to date was actually the one that got my heart racing the most. If you feel you want to go after trophies then great. However, when your uncle said the buck was a shooter he meant it, but that means it's a shooter to him. When you see a potential trophy go with your gut feeling at the moment, because it's always right. If when you size the animal up, you've got no doubts about it being smaller than your expectations then take it. Ground shrinkage happens when you try to convince yourself it's bigger or disregard something you can pick out (like you seeing the spread not being much passed it's ears at all). Go with your instincts and don't look back. With that said I don't know of anyone personally that has a double beam buck prostaffer or not. If anything you can't be disappointed if you learn from the experience. Good luck living the dream!
