Casey
What do you all think of the Optima?? I saw one thats all black, with a black shoulder strap for $197.00 Looks like a very nice gun with some nice sights on it already. CVA has an awesome reputation with their guns. Just looking for opinions!?
layin on the smackdown
Well Acorn, i bought mine in August and absolutely love it. I have it dialed in and am driving tacks with it...great shooting gun for sure...I bought mine with a powder horn BDC reticle scope...all i know for sure is that i don't want to be on the receiving end of this bad boy...I am shooting 100 grains of Triple 7 pyrodex pellets and a .223 grain powerbelt bullet. The barrel on this gun can take a charge up to 150 grains of powder, but i have learned that if you use pellets, and try and shoot 150 grains, your powder is still burning as its flying out of the barrel, so i backed her down to 100 grains and just dropped my bullet grain from 250 to 223 grains...haven't shot a deer with it yet, but am planning on it in December...here is what mine looks like. good luck with it, and treat her well! dan
mike
dad bought one and i think its a darn good gun for the price Casey. I wouldnt hesitate for a second on buying one, not much recoil compared to the cheap one i bought a fews year back either

marshall9779
I have an Optima Elite which has the Bergarra barrel. I bought it last year. I've done a little experimenting but am currently shooting 100gr Blackhorn 209 under a 200gr Shockwave using Win regular 209 primers. That load is shooting just under 3/4" at 100yds, cloverleaf. Took my first deer with it this year, bang flop doe at 40 yds. Here's a pic of the group. I finched on the 4th shot that's closer to the middle, but the other three are touching. strongdeer
Mine is cloverleafing at 100 yds as well. Great gun for the price.
maytom
Looked at the T/C Encore and this gun, but in the Accura Model. The CVA can be bought for almost 1/2 the cost of the Encore or even more!! Might take the plunge myself!!
