Happy Thanksgiving to all!

THANKSGIVING DAY TURKEY!!! I was in my bow stand last night and watched these turkeys go to roost. I was going to bow hunt deer this morning, however, the wind was blowing way too hard. I decided to go after these turkeys. I snuck into the woods, in the dark, at 6:30 am. I could not find them... they had moved. As I slowly walked the edge of the field looking for the turkeys ... some turkeys flew from the trees into a tall grass field. I moved into a woods that overlooked the field and was planning on calling them to me. As soon as I sat down I hear "putt, putt" and look up and there is a turkey 40 yards from me. "Putt, putt" is turkey talk for "danger, danger". I quickly call back "purr, purr". That is turkey talk for "I am your friend, trust me". He walks to within 30 yards and I shoot, flipping him over. The second shot misses. I fumble through my pockets, with gloves on, for more shells (using my over-under gun). I am thinking, "no way this bird will still be there after I re-load this gun". I look up and he is 25 yards away and walking calmly. The third shot was the end! Shooting hours started at 7:05 and he was on the ground at 7:11. Weighed about 16 pounds and will make for some good eatin'.

Happy Thanksgiving and GOD BLESS.
