SonnyThomas
I wonder how many deer are taken and not recorded? Just this past week the Peoria Journal Star sports section printed of at least 4 deer so far this year were taken with a bow that push 200 inches. Pictured was reported having 29 points. One I saw last year was never wrote of except in the paper and he was super outstanding, far better than the Black Powder taken Macomb Monster (my opinion). brownie65
I am sure there are a bunch of big ones that never get scored. Lot of the people I know don't care about the publicity or about any record books. Just simple ole hunting boys.
ruttinbuc
I know a couple guys in Illinois that have some 200+ deer to their credit. None are in the book. The publicity causes problems. One friend had people all around his property on the fence after showing one to a newspaper. No one needs that. Illinois is a special place for big whitetails that has felt the effect of the media big time. You can't blame these guys.

As a matter, of fact I can not think of anyone who has recorded a deer. Just good ol farm boys huntin' deer. Good luck to all the dog
SchuLace
Like everyone else has said, there are plenty of huge deer that aren't recorded. Many people just don't care about what it scores. They go out hunting, if they get a big one, they get a big one, if not, oh well.

Yep, they portray the big deer states as if there is a monster behind every tree and then make it look like it is very easy to kill them. This in turn brings out the money boys and they buy up or lease all of the ground available forcing the locals to fend for themselves. Back in the 90's before all the hype of today you could knock on almost any door and get permission to hunt in Illinois. I never have, but know people who did. Now you have everybody with a cornfield and a ditch calling themselves outfitters. Land and lease prices are through the roof. Then the state jumps in the game and charges anyone who might want to hunt there an exorbitant fee. Just for the heck of it check out the outfitters they post at the end of all the hunting shows. Look them up and see just what it may cost you to hunt there if you can get a spot...

SonnyThomas
200 or better scores? I hear what your saying about huge deer causing problems. I put on a archery clinic at a high school a couple years back. The Principal was much into deer hunting and eventually nailed a very nice buck. By the time he finally had his phone number changed he was a nervous wreck. I understand the person that shot the MaComb Monster (#2 Black Powder deer) had his phone disconnected and wouldn't answer the door.

NBomb500
I hear you, I know a lot of people who take nice deer every year, but never say too much. I think the biggest reason is that they do not want a whole bunch of new hunters hunting in their area! It can be bad enough as it is!!!
