Tiger Woods Seriously Injured in Car Crash in Florida

Golf great Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident in Florida early Friday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Woods, 33, is in the hospital in very serious condition after a single-car crash at 2:25 a.m. in which he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree, according to the FHP.

The crash is under investigation and charges are pending, but the crash was not alcohol-related, the highway patrol said in its accident report. It wasn't known if he was wearing a seatbelt.

Woods pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community when he struck the hydrant. He then plowed into the tree on his neighbor's property. He was taken to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla.

Woods was apparently traveling under 33 mph because the Cadillac Escalade's2_bing.gif airbags didn't inflate, the FHP said.

The golf champion was gearing up for his fifth Chevron World Challenge title. The $5.75 million tournament is scheduled for Dec. 1-6.

"It should be an exciting week for the fans, and I'm looking forward to competing," Woods said in a Nov. 25 article about the event on his Web site.

I read the story and it seems like he was near his house when it happened....maybe hit the wrong pedal or something??? Police said alcohol didnt appear to be involved. I would like to think someone as intelligent as him wouldnt drink and drive..

It looks like he is going to be just fine according to yahoo.

Let's see:

2:30 in the morning.

Going nowhere in particular.

Racked up the family wheels (nye on in front of the abode).

It would customarily lead one to believe that it was as a result of a problem with one (or both) of two things:

1. Booze

and / or

2. Woman

They say they ruled out "booze", so let's see, what's that leave?

What I dont understand is why Tiger can get away with not talking to the authorities about what happened....I keep reading how the police were asked to come back later because he is 'sleeping'.

If it were me or any of us that the police wanted to talk to about an accident and someone told them we couldnt because we are 'sleeping'....I dont see them saying, 'oh, ok, we will come back later'.

just a thought

If the average person (like me or you) were involved in an accident like this..... do you think that the police would have taken a blood sample for blood alcohol???

None was taken (as reported in the news)... just another example that if you are a celebrity you get special treatment.

Just my thoughts. Hope all works out for him.

good luck to all

Domestic disputes are always tragic for those concerned.....if that is in fact the situation here.

But on a lighter side, you always have to look at what makes you smile:

Like if someone was to say, "Mrs. Tiger Woods has been recommended for entry into the PGA, as she is reported to have recently beaten the world's best PGA golfer!", would that crack a smile?

Now that there's funny! Yu jus' got'ta laugh at that! The joke that is, not the reality of things!
