Nailed a Blacktail buck

I know, I spelled nailed wrong ..LOL

I nailed a nice buck tonight, just before last shooting light, but I backed off, because I didn't see where I hit it.

I could barely see my pins, and he was standing in the shadows between two large fur trees at 15 yrds. The hit sounded real good, but it was hard to see.

He ran down into a gully and up the other side, and then stood there for what seemed like 5 minutes or so. I kept praying, go down, go down, and then he ever so slowly walked into the shadows of the fence row. I hope that's where I find him in the morning. He's a nice mature blacktail.

How does one Nial a buck exactly???? :D :D :D

 Of course, the resident smart butt...er...I mean moderator...has to chime in. :D;)

Steve had to pick up a new monitor tonight and has asked me to let you know he's working on getting back in here as quick as he can.:)

So then, I'm assuming you use separate computers then? Can you give us a hint as to whether or not Steve has one down?:D

Dakota :)

Like this

He was laying right where I last saw him last night.:D

And to top it off, my buddy Wilf got a really nice buck this morning too. We pulled off a double header and we had them both loaded up in our vehicles by 10:00am :D

The rut has finally kicked in here big-time. It's a bit late this year because of all those high winds and torrential rain the last couple of weeks. But it sure was going hot and heavy this morning.

What an interesting morning we had, besides our 2 bucks. I got my deer recovery on video clips, along with Wilf's deer and a few others we saw,so it might take me a bit to sort that all out and put it together.

Here's my buck. It turned out to be a 2x3, and a nice one at that. Both bucks still have lots of fat on them, which proves that the rut has just started late here.

Wilf's buck looked like it was 1 year older than mine, because of the thicker main beams and maybe a few extra pounds too.

Beautiful buck Wilf. Way to go buddy.

Here they are side by side. Skinning day tomorrow.

And Ken. Wilf says he is very, very sorry about shooting your buck. He didn't see your name on it, until he got up to it, and it was wearing off anyway ..LOL

as much as I was itching to let you guys off the hook and blab the whole story, I was getting that "oh please, let me" pleading look from Steve. You guys have probably seen that look before. It works! LOL
