rwatson911
I was wanting to set up a gun for long range hunting. 500 yards or so. I have a tekka .270 wsm a .308 norma mag and a .280. I havent shot any of them a whole lot. Which one would be better for this? What are the benefits of each? I was thinking either the .270 or .308 all though the .280 can hit the same hole with factory ammo at 100yards. What would the best scope be? Personally I like the 270 short mag because I have one & its a tack driver. Speaking of scopes it all depends on how much you want to spend. For the type of long range hunting you want to do I suggest a scope with a ballistics recticle. Something like a Zeiss Conquest 600 Rapid Z recticle or the ballistic recticle from Burris. IMO if you are shooting out to 400 yards plus you really need a ballistics recticle unless you've a very very experienced shooter and very familiar with your gun. rwatson911
well thats kinda what I have thought. I haven't shot the .270 ever because I won it. But from what I have read it seems to be most peoples favorite.

But from what I have read it seems to be most peoples favorite. The .270 is an awesome round, the 270 short mag is the same thing except you can reach out there just a little farther! Surprisingly my 270 short doesn't kick one bit.
Tink
.308 Norma Mag is a Monster the.308 Norma Magnum is a medium power Popular in Africa c Its in the class of a .300 WBY kicks like **** and is a massive killer without the speed of the .300 WBY The .300 WBY is a top long range rifle Bar none the 270s & 7 Mm are flatter shooting guys to Travel to Mongolia and Nepal for long range High Dollar Marco Polo and Argali Sheep hunting favor the . 300 WBY and the .300-378 Weatherby Magnum. Seems the 7 MM WSM never worked out as planned Sales of 7 MM magnum going strong the 7 mm Remington Magnum is a much of an accurate long range range shooter as the 7 mm WSM is a SOB to get to shoot right.
