Dakota
Checked the trapline again this morning! My main line is situated approximately 3 1/2 miles west of town, but I have one trap along a bridge on the same creek about a mile south and east of the main line. This spot looked really good before the season started and tracks were everywhere! However, when I started stringin' steel last Saturday afternoon this section of the creek was quite high. I decided to set a trap just in case, baited with sardines and fish oil. This spot has just not produced this week and I haven't even seen any tracks showing that furbearers were in the area. So, with a heavy heart, I decided to drive by there first and pull the trap. Lo' and behold, look what was waiting for me! I couldn't see the trap at first and then saw some fur (the mink) floating. I raced the twenty yards back to the vehicle and grabbed my trapping gloves and got down in the water to pull him out. At first I thought it might be another 'rat but then I kept pulling out something long and lanky and saw the ferret looking face and my heart just soared! Thanks for all the advice and support everyone! This buck mink belongs to you as much as it does me. Dakota

oneshot
EXCELLENTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember, mink may not come back to an area for a couple of weeks as they can travel long routes in search of food. Bridges are great spots to set at, just remember to have lots of patience..... Congrats again buddy!!!!! :toot::toot::toot:

Sweatty09
First Mink rnCant say much more than Congratulations. The look on his face says it all. I remember the first coyote that my son shot. I saw him hit it. The only time ever that I come close to buck fever. If another coyote came in, I am sure I couldnt have shot it, I was shaking that much. That never happened to me when I shot my first coyote.
