6sixpoint_nobrows
So i am bound and determined to get a fox with my bow. last season i got so close many times but never got a shot off. i have called them in with my mouth a bunch of times. but after a few failed attempts at getting them in bow range every time i got picked off by seeing me draw/ or move the slightest bit to get my pin on it. these little critters have eyes like a turkey! i mean i have never had a problem with deer, and cant remember the last time i got picked off drawing on a deer but man. tonight is the first night i have seen a fox this season and it was a good sized one with a beautiful coat he. comes in and is just totally unaware that i was there, i slowly grab my bow and turn to him real slow, and i mean slow, i look down and he is already ten yards under me and he all the sudden catches the slightest movement from my bow and looks up. i couldnt believe it. he slowly trotted off out of bow range. bust! im more or less venting lol but has anyone harvested a fox with there bow, this seems to be kinda like snipe huntin lol:gun1:

rhine16
A fox was actually my first animal with a bow. Shot one when I was 13... hit it perfect and fell less than 20 yards from the where I shot him. Missed two deer the next weekend.... go figure. redkneck
Never have. Tried to draw on two coyotes but both picked me out. I've never tried to call one in while bowhunting. I'd love to take one, but only if they happen to walk in on me. A good friend of mine killed a yote and a bobcat last year. That doesnt happen often, esp in the same season. Sambar Hunter
Foxes certainly are tough buggers, but here in Australia we get red foxes compared to your guys in the states get silver foxes. But the only difference between them is there coat.

Tominator
Wait until they get underneath you before you draw. I squeaked one in about 10 years ago. He came right to the base of my tree. I shot him pinning him to the ground momentarily. After he jumped off the arrow, he calmly walked behind my tree, sat down and looked up at me. After I was done deer hunting, I took up the blood trail and trailed him for a 100 yards or so, but lost the blood trail in a thick swampy area. Straight Shooter
I've been fortunate enough to take 3 grey foxes and one red with my bow. I actually decapitated a crow last weekend with a rage head, more proud of that shot, than the foxes. lol
Doc
The only opportunity that I have ever had was when I was deer hunting from a "thrown together" ground stand. The fox went by at about 5 yards. If anybody has ever had a deer jump the string, imagine an animal cutting that kind of reaction time in half. I never saw any animal react that quickly and violently. The arrow was perfectly aimed and hit exactly where he was. It was like a trap going off, and he jumped about 2' off the ground and twisted himself almost upside down. I have never seen such an exhibition of gymnastics. Never touched him. I couldn't believe my eyes. Doc
