Airman312
Well, I shot a buck Sat. evening and the thing dropped in his tracks. He did a little flopping around and then got real still so I did not shoot another round:hammer1: After a couple of min. of quiet rejoicing, I looked all around for other deer since I still had some time left... that's when the coward made like a bannana and split!!!! I looked back where he was laying and he was gone... I did some looking last night but no luck... Called for some help for this morning, hopefully we'll find him....wish us luck
BearClaw
Hope you find him! Had a similar episode happen to me years ago. Shot a doe with my 50 cal muzzleloader and she went over like a cannon had hit her. Litterally took all four legs off the ground. Walked over to her and she got up, took a step, did a somersault and laid back down. I took out my 50 cal. pistol and shot her in the neck. She flinched, got up, took a step, did another somesault andthis time when all four legs hit the ground she took off running full speed. Never did find her but I hope you find yours! Good luck-keep us posted!
rad_112176
Good luck Airman. Keep us posted on how it goes. It's amazing what those deer can do. Had a brother of mine shoot a big buck a few years ago and dropped it in its tracks. About 5 minutes later as he was sitting there waiting to get down he heard a noise and looked up and the deer was on all fours and getting the heck out of town. Tracked it for 2 days through the corn and it never did die. Hopefully you will have better luck though.
The_Kat
I've had deer pull the dissappearing act on my twice with my .270 and both were does. Shot one in the neck and the other head on in the chest cavity. Both fell to the ground and lay still. One took off on me as I was climbing down the tree, the other while I went to get the truck. No blood, no nothing, and sadly no deer either time.
