@ 10:30am!!! I'm going to freak out...wait I'm doing that already!:hammer1:

The Director of Nursing called me from the rehab/nursing home place in Houghton...I sent in my resume as they were advertising a part time RN position!

Oh crap...I don't feel ready,lol! I haven't really had any major interviews....camp was always a phone interview...

Guess I have to pray and just tell myself be calm, be natural, and breathe....but still...this is big for me:eek::surrender:

Any helpful tips? Anything I should take along with me besides a copy of my references?

interviews are fun!

I have been on plenty and enjoy doing them. If I could figure out a way to make money doing them I would.

Just be relax, CONFIDENT, and yourself. If you go in freaking out and come out feeling like you are unsure you will get the job then you won't get it. Go in there knowing you are the one on only for this position, sell yourself, and come out knowing that you will get an offer on the job. It's easy!

I also take a shot or two of jack with me to bust out during the interview.

I don't even know how to sell myself, lol. If that involves some bragging, I don't do that at all, lol!

All I can do is my best I guess. I'll just be like hey, no biggie!

No need to brag. Just speak the knowledge you have and know what you are talking about. Try not to BS to much incase they ask questions on what you are trying to BS. Thats never good when you say something, then can not explain or elaborate on it. Sell yourself by knowing what you know. That might not make sense, sorry.

Confidence is the key to an interview...I could always tell the good sales reps from the average ones just by the way they spoke and carried themselves. Like Ben said, know your the one for the job and that it is already yours. Think of the interview as just something ya gotta do to get ready to go to work.

You worry too much.

It is a small establishment with probably around 100 beds and 90 patients.

They are looking for a part time RN they can work full time at the most God awful hours, weekends, and holidays, at the pay of a nursing assistant.

Nursing homes are notorious for having a quick turnover of staff because the administrators don't know how to properly treat a good employee.

They know they would be lucky to get you to work for them, and would be willing to pay a lot more than they are willing to offer you.

You are too good to work at this place.

Keep the above attitude and you'll do fine.

Hope this helps.

There is the best advice right there. If you start bragging and BSing you will go down in flames. I have interviewed new teachers and you can sniff out a lie like a fart in a phone booth.

Be calm. Don't be afraid to take a moment to think about your answer. Here is a great stall tactic, "Wow that is a great question, give me a second to think that one over."

Tell the truth and be confident in your answers. Don't tell them what they want to hear. They want to hear what Ruth has to say.

Thanks everyone...all good advise...I'm not going to worry about it. I get it, I get it, I don't...God has another door to open for me...

I had to do clinical hours in a nursing home...there were no aides and the staff were horrible...this place is more of rehab with maybe some residents but I feel it is not going to be bas bad as where I had clinical, besides they have aides which helps!
