huntdux
I resd in the magazine about late season tips, but sometimes I would rather hear from regular hunters like myself. What are some things that have worked for you in the past? Food?(Corn, Rice Bran, Acorn Rage, Trophy Rock, etc...) Food Plot? Field Edges or heavy cover? Travel routes(trails, creek beds, road crossings, etc...) Heavy snow is not a big factor here, but will get an inch or two every once and awhile before the new year. Thanks for any advice, wish I had more answers to give to you guys. Also any tips for southeast Kansas in mid to late December?
KirkV
I typically look for travel routes to and from FOOD! It is the one thing in central Illinois they will constantly need and can't wait to get in their bellies after a day of being bedded down. I love the evening hunt when they are coming to the food source and if you can find a staging area in the timber they will usually have one near a food source they will mill around in before just jumping into the field. This is my favorite tactic of late cold weather.:pacman:

And the deer are hitting em hard now and will continue as other food becomes less available. I will spend lots of time around them WHEN the wind is right. Deer seem to be very wary this time of year since most have seen, heard, smelt or been shot at already. But it is a fun time to hunt!! Good luck! Tominator
Look for small patches of fields or fencelines. Glass them and either push/drive them or spot and stalk.
The_Kat
Wheat fields!!!!! Find a good food source, anything still green, and find the transition area between it and bed. Corners of big wheat fields work well too.

buckee
Doe Estrus scent trails for those searching bucks. It works well, at times. during the main rut, but works especially well during the secondary rut, when the bucks are still frantically searching for more action.
