Turkeygirl
Well I'm home from the interview. It was them ost low key interview...I wouldn't even call it one. The DON basically told me I can have it if I want it and gave me a tour. First of all I got there 10 minutes early....the DON meets me 15 minutes later. Basically said the part time job is 3 shifts - 1 day or evening and 2 nights....Immediately I was thinking NO because I am not doing night shift. When I first walkedi n though, I immediately felt uncomfortable and uptight...it did not feel like some place I could work in...God was telling me this wasn't where He wants me. Although she said they could work with me with the camp job, I am not accepting this position. Nothing said YES to me. Driving home I realized that even though starting out on a med/surg floor is the scary thing to me....I'd probably feel more comfortable, especially as I'm already familiar with the local hospitals from clinical. There's one offering part time, and maybe full times positions, and I think there are some benefits even with the part time there, so I'm going to look into at least a part time there and maybe they'll work with with the summer thing... I definitely feel comfortable with my decision, or shall I say God's decision, and can just chalk this up to a learning experience.
The_Kat
Ya gotta follow your heart Ruth. I will give one piece of advice....your low on the totem pole, a green nurse if you will. So I wouldn't bash night shifts as alot of nurses I know work a night shift or two....even the seasoned ones. That being said I hope you don't regret your decision and soon find you a job ASAP. You've worked very hard to get to where you are, I wish you nothing but sucess.

buckee
Sounds like you made a good choice Ruth. It's not very often that you get a bad feeling about something, and you turn out to be wrong, especially when you have the Lord helping you along. . wtnhunt
Immediately I was thinking NO because I am not doing night shift. Don't know about where you are Ruth, but to be honest new nurses gotta start somewhere. Before my wife got some experience behind her she did have to work second shift and nights. May be different where you are.
