tedicast
I just got a 26" Stainless Heavey Barrel .223 for my Encore. It is a factory TC barrel. I am mounting a Leupold Quick Release base on it, and after I tighten it down, the muzzle end of the base is floating about 1/8" off the barrel. Is this correct? Do I have a bad base? I have the same base on my 209X50 barrel, and it fits pretty tight. Is it because the .223 barrel is tapered more.? Just want some opinions before I mount the scope. Thanks in advance guys! hangunnr
Re: Encore Question Dosen't look like it should be a problem as long as the mount is pulled down properly. It just looks like the mount is longer than the chamber area of your barrel. hangunnr

AJ
Re: Encore Question I usually fill in the gap with some bedding compound. It provides a solid base for the mount to sit on also. I coat the barrel with release agent and apply some bedding compound to the gap area of the mount. Then the mount is tightened down, it will allow the excessive epoxy to ooze out the sides. I clean it up with some Q-Tips and wait till its dry.
tedicast
Re: Encore Question Thanks for the tip AJ. Glad to know the gap is normal, though it is kind of odd.
