m gardner
I've been dealing with some low level govt. employees this week. Seems they are going to charge an extra $40.00 per year to use the archery course at Usury Mountain Park here in Mesa. This is in addition to a general pass required to enter the park(or any other Maricopa County Park). That's not a bad thing. What is, is that they denied anyone with a pass stamped "archery" access to the park until they paid the new retroactive fee. It's a general pass so they found out they couldn't legally do that. Lots of mad archers. Now they will charge day use archers for a $6.00 general use day pass and assess a $2.00 per person use fee for the range. I have an e-mail that says the $2.00 is per car not per person. Now I have another e-mail that says the first one is in error and it's $2.00 per person. They cancelled the dec. 1st date to institute these changes until everyone was in agreement as to what was to happen. (maybe because some archers confronted the sherriffs sent to straighten them out and the sherriffs left in frustration). Now it's changed to dec. 7th. I was told my yearly pass is a family pass and it covers anyone under my roof. Then I was told today that it was a general pass for the family use of the parks but anyone other than me needed to pay the $2.00 day use fee for archery. :bang: I sent another e-mail to the idiot in charge and hope by monday he answers before we go to shoot because I'm sure the cops will be called again.:hammer1: Either these govt. employees all interpret the same things differently because of stupidity or they are so used to lieing that they can't tell the truth. Anyways they are so confused it shouldn't be long before the govt. crumbles and we get to start over again. :bang: I'm trying hard to do the right thing but can't seem to find out what that really is. Pretty pathetic. Mark
stevebeilgard
aaah, yes. it's just another sad story in the entire saga... with all the federal and state cuts, they have to charge users of all our parks a fee to make their wages. travel is down so they charge more, meaning less travelers coming. a vicious circle. good thing they spend the money they do take in very frugally. Texan_Til_I_Die
I hate dealing with bureaucracies. Seems like nobody is ever in a position to make a final decision.
hunterbobb
I am actually one of those low level goverment employees. You should see the situation from our side. I can't tell you the numbers of times I have gotten instuctions on a new policy only to be told a short time later that the instructions where incorrect. I have compared our department to a ship without a rudder. It just goes where ever the current takes it. I don't know what it is about government jobs but it just seems the dumber you are the higher you go. The only reason I stay is the job schedule is so flexable that I can hunt almost anytime I want to. :gun2:
