woodshed
I spotted a good buck on the south facing slope the other day when it was cold. I had my rifle and couldn't shoot him because it was antlerless season. Is it likely he would be in that location again to bed on a cold day? Do they bed in random areas or do they like the same places?
92xj
I have noticed that the deer around me like the South facing slopes during the cold to get the heat from the sun light. I have also noticed that they bed all over. They will have a main bedding area but will also bed anywhere they are when they get tried of standing. A single bed is most likely a stop and resting place, but if I can find numerous beds in an area then they will continue to go back for their "big rest". This is just what I have noticed about the deer around me.
hunterbobb
I have found that a buck will bed in the same area, not always the same bed, but usually not on consecutive days. I know a lot of people will argue with this but to me it seems like bucks run on a three day schedule. If you see him in one area on Monday. You won't see him again there till Thursday. I know that for the the most part this is a huge generalization and depends a lot on hunter pressure, but it has been somewhat succesfull for me. :gun2:

Do they bed in random areas or do they like the same places? He was bedded on a southern facing slope so he could catch some warmth from the sun, on a cold day. Chances are that's one of his favourite bedding areas, and if not, he won't be too far from it on a south facing slope, along with his cousin. woodshed
Thanks,,, that is what I was thinking. I'd like to set up on that slope as there really aren't many southern exposures on this property. With similare conditions of cold and clear day I hope he returns to get some warmth. It's also close to a hay field wich is mowed and has green grass for a food source. The woods are white and red oaks so he has it all! Kind of rare around here to see bucks do the same thing or be in the same place on any consecutive days.

joeaveragehunter
any south facing slope seems to attract deer when its cold. When not pressured of course.
