codman
Hey all, Im looking to build a tower blind in the spring time and pretty much have the structure design in my head. On another note what has everydone to anchor there tower blinds to the ground im gonna use 4x4 post and maybe 10ft off the ground. Ive thought sonatubes with concrete and bolt the post into that. Just would like some other ideas. Thank you Dan
wtnhunt
Used tied down anchors that came from lowes, the auger type. Think they went down 18 inches or so. Platform for our blind is welded square tubing, bolted the legs to the anchors, the blind has withstood some pretty high winds.
Jeramie
If it will be in heavy timber I would also consider using guy wire and turnbuckles and attaching it to the surrounding trees.

Have done both the above, one stand about 100 miles in from the coast had a hurricane go pretty close to over it, and it remained standing. The anchors will work great depending upon your soil conditions. One other option I have seen is to drive steel t-post into the ground adjacent to the legs and then attached the legs to them. That is a great idea. As long as any lift isnt vertical it should really hold! Good thinking Chuck..
redkneck
We have some anchored with the T-posts and have done ok, but did that after Katrina. Personally I'd recommend getting at least a foot or 2 of the 4x4's into the ground and then put some t-posts out a ways and use some cable to anchor them at about 45 degrees or so. If another Katrina comes through I'm quite sure they will all be on the ground, but hopefully will handle some decent wind gusts as they are. wtnhunt
What we used was something like this http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=92724-318-59075&lpage=none. Used galvanized metal straps instead of wire though and bolted those straps to the legs of the blind.
redkneck
That looks good William, we just had some T-posts laying around, but next time we get an elevated shack, I think I'll go with that idea.
