All of these deer were taken this rifle season with my fathers Remington Model 36 Express Springfield 30 Cal. 1906. He gave me the rifle before the season. Every deer was taken while carrying this rifle and my grandfathers folding Buck 112. We have never been a family to believe in luck, but we do now. My buck was taken at 30 yards and died with in 20 yards of me. I thought I was going to have to shoot again in self defense. He was hot on a does trail when the Federal 180 power lok smashed him. My wife shot her first deer ever, on her first sit ever. Her buck is a 6 pointer. Her buck marched across the corn field from 150 yards out to 15 yard in answer to a grunt. I tried to stop him with a grunt but he turned and came in looking for a fight! After the shot she was shaking and smiling so big, and is hooked now. It was awesome. The coyotes got to the deer before we could find it, they ate the whole thing! It happens. She is looking forward to her Euro mount though. Both my brothers shot their deer from the same stand. The buck Thanksgiving morning, the doe the day after Thanksgiving. Both the doe and the buck where dropped in their tracks. And both expired within an inch of each other. The doe was my brothers first deer ever, all 3 of us brothers were present. Lots of laughs and memories this year!
