cray8705
So I'm driving to school today and we've been getting some snow here in Wi so I'm trying to concentrate on the road when I see a HUGE Buck standing in a cornfield. I almost lost control and ended up in the ditch. Turns out it was one of those decoys with cameras in them that the DNR puts out to "bait" road hunters. Anyone else see many of these around? They are pretty real looking, maybe the DNR counts them and thats why they have mismanaged the deer in WI ?
camoman1
I havent ever seen one 'in action' but I know they have using them for a while. Would like them to put one out where I hunt to catch the idiots that are out poaching deer EVERY year out of the fields at nite.
Jorden
My cousin actually makes them in his taxidermy shop and sells them to the DNR
rhine16
Never seen one but they have caught several people here by using em.
buckee
Here's some good video clips http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=1250056n It's extra disgusting seeing these poachers with their kids in the vehicles too. :bang::hammer1:
bluelund79
Saw it opening day in Walworth County WI on the opener of the regular gun season 2 or 3 years ago, the wardens didn't find it funny when my dad and I stopped and went to go take our pictures with it....no pics got to be taken, and no tickets were issued thankfully. NBomb500
Great videos! It makes me want to get one and try it out! We have had a problem with people poaching deer in our area in the past. Sure would be funny to use!

It was so hoky looking..I had my binos and I could see right away it was fake..I laughed so hard thinking somebody would actually think it was real! backwoods07
I actually ran into a Forest Preserve officer this morning. We got to talking and he informed me that the DNR has been using them pretty heavily in my area. They caught two guys shooting at it with pistols last week about 2 miles away from my house. I have yet to see one though.
coles
Montana even uses elk decoys. Saw one in the back of a wardens truck right before bow season. I guess they are tryin to catch the guys out tryin to shoot an elk with a rifle during the rut. Not so sure they get to many people trying to shoot at elk off the road with a bow. TN Bucknasty
When I was a teenager, I used to be pretty good friends with the last game warden around here so I would aggravate and prank him all of the time. Once, he was using "Robo Buck", and I was riding down the road with my kid brother who was only a toddler. I immediately pulled over to the side of the road and led him out to the deer. I put a quarter on its rump. Then I asked him if he wanted to ride and put him on its back. The GW laughed himself silly. Another time, he had a Montana decoy set up pretty close to the road, and I put my old pickup into high gear, drove across the field going about 50, and plowed it. Then I kept going. He came to school and pulled me out of class. He said that my little stunt would have been much funnier if people hadn't really been trying to run over the thing. He showed me the decoy which had been taped back together repeatedly with duct tape. Then I laughed myself silly, that is until he kicked me square in the arse. Ahhh, those were the days. :stupid: :hammer1:

The_Kat
Ya I'd think a destruction of state property ticket would come next......it would of if that had been my decoy and I was the officer.

sluggunner
One improvement needed. Those decoys should be made to shoot back at the morons who try to poach them.
joeaveragehunter
Poachers suck! Give them a huge fine so WI can hire some competent deer managers. Ha Ha
