Diamond Archer 01
I was wondering how many of you guys use the lever evolution ammo out of a 30-30. If so, what do you guys think about it? Do you like it better than other ammo you used for the 30-30? Any opinions will be appreciated. hungry hunter
I don't shoot a 30-30 personally, but I have a friend that shoots a 30-30 and uses the lever action ammo, when I do see him he is impressed with it.
Jeramie
It is getting very good reviews. I have never used it as I rarely shoot my old 30-30. However, with the reviews its getting im guessing it is probably all it is cracked up to be. If I were to knock the dust off of the 30-30 id probalby pick up a box. Adjam5
I have 3 boxes of the LR ammo I got on sale at Gander Mtn for 19.99 ea. I have not shot them yet. With the distances I hunt deer with my rifle. I will not see any improvement that the LR will bring. If I was taking shot 150 yards and beyond it would be my go to ammo. But I am still using 150gr FN Speer Nitrex ammo in my Marlin 30/30. When I run out of that I will go to the LR. Ranger Clay on this board uses LR ammo and he said he has had great results with it. With that load, it becomes a 200 yard cartridge. I have other rifles to get that distance and the energy needed to kill deer sized game cleanly out to 200 yards and better. njbowhntr
I have been shooting LR for about 3 years now. I have taken 2 nice bucks with it. At the range I can get 1" groups at 100yards out of a 336c, if I really put my heart into it. Mostly shoots 1.5" to 2" groups. As for deer. I shot the first one at about 70 yards. He went 30 yards after impact. Both lungs were destroyed with a large exit hole. As for the second deer, well only a 8 yard shot. He went about 20 yards. Took out near shoulder, both lungs and massive exit wound. I am hooked for life. A friend of mine got his buck in NY with the LR ammo also. 70-80 yard shot. Deer went 40 yards after being hit. Same as above, both lungs gone with massive exit wound.
DropTine49
I don't shoot a lever gun, but I am very impressed with the Hornady LeveRevolution in all calibers available. They are very similar to a Hornady Ballistic tips, If I shot lever they would be my first choice.
RangerClay
I have been using the LR Bullets since they were first released. They are an awesome bullet and turned my Marlin 30-30 into a tack driver. At the range I am getting 3-4" groups at 150 yards.
