The DNR or whatever it's called where you live, counts the # of deer on a parcel of land or two or three, adds up the acreage of said parcel/parcels, divides the total number of acreage in that state or county or province, by the total number of acreage in the deer count parcels, and then multiplies that figure by the number of deer.
