Tim Andrus
I know this sounds like a broken record..but what can I say... My last live hunt is over with another 0.... Trip was great until mother nature dealt me another blow.. Ive spent 5 days in Sd, 4 days in Mt, 4-1/2 days in Ks and lastly 3 1/2 days in Iowa with all being a zero..... 2 without a cameraman 2 with and all I have is good and some bad memories..... Ive dealt with crazy weather , land owners, and whitetails who didnt read the script .... Its been 8 years since Ive havent tagged a shooter buck and doesent feel real good to end the out of state hunts with a zero... A little bit of humble pie I guess.. I do have some great memories that wont go away ..... This past season Ive had alot of encounters with big , small bucks ..Especially in Iowa my buddy Glenn Thompson did a great job for Rodney and I this past week.. Theres a 130 minimum on his ground and I think I had 10-15 encounters with bucks in the 120s that I let walk ,but had on film..... Seeing that 200 inch brusier was a un forgetable sight and got a minute of footage of him going the wrong way... Rodney and I did the best we could do with weather , tight filming quarters and so on. If I didnt have a camera with me I would have tagged out every night, but thats filming..LOL The price to pay when you have a camera with you..... Do I regret it not one bit ... Its just hard to swallow at times .. We all get caught up in this antler caze and so times it doesnt work out....Other hunts Ive killed with in 30 minutes of the hunt ...And this year it didnt work out..... I put up with 70 degree temps in Ks and then single digits in Iowa .. Rodney and I this past week had wind chills in the negatives and we held out only to have a blizzard shut us down.. Last night I went by myself in 4 degree temps with a minus 20 wind chill ( Gave Rodney a break) and sat against a cedar tree to see a 125 inch 8pt I held the gun on him and said bang and ended my 2009 season ... On a good note made a bunch of new friends and feel good about it.. Thanks to everyone for well wishes ( like that) and I felt the pressure on these hunts of letting you folks down , and so on.. But it hunting and you know Ill be out there next year all over again trying to tag that monster whitetail. thanks for tagging along with me ... Tim And yes after being socked in by blizzard I made it home in time for my daughters Cristmas concert ( surprised her) that right there was on of the best feelings when she gave me a hug and said I knew you would make it...Ill stop on that note
buckee
And yes after being socked in by blizzard I made it home in time for my daughters Cristmas concert ( surprised her) that right there was on of the best feelings when she gave me a hug and said I knew you would make it...Ill stop on that note Well you can't beat that Tim. And, it's always an honor and a privilege to tag along on your hunts. This year has showed us all one thing for sure, and that is, that the life of being a pro-staffer for Realtree or any other outfit isn't all big bucks and glory or easy for that matter. It takes time, patience and a taste for bitter pills when things just to fit together as hoped for. I for one was feeling your pain and frustration from start to finish on all your hunts this year, as I'm sure all of us were. NEXT TIME !!!!:yes::yes: (Lord Willing...eh)
BowJoe
I'm proud of you buddy. Like I said before, your one of my favorite prostaff members and friends. I have been over the road and it's been awesome going through the live hunts with you. Makes me feel like I'm there. I always say, when you work hard, eventually it pays off. God's plan is greater than ours and I bet he has a buck that will reach his prime the same time you have an arrow ready. You'll see. It could happen and I know it will. Thank you Tim. Now get some much needed rest. I know I'd be snuggling with my daughters any time I got the chance. That's what really matters anyway. mike13candace
Tim, We enjoy the moments along with you. Thanks for sharing your stories. I feel the same. Weather has been killing me this year... not only locally. This is why hunting whitetails is not an easy task. We would be doing something else... right? I am looking forward to muzzle loading. Last chance...
RangerClay
And yes after being socked in by blizzard I made it home in time for my daughters Cristmas concert ( surprised her) that right there was on of the best feelings when she gave me a hug and said I knew you would make it...Ill stop on that note Sniff, Sniff........... That is great Tim. Speaking for myself and I'm sure others will agree, you didn't let anyone down. No way no how. I was a privilege for us just to be able to tag along with you and I appreciate you giving us the opportunity. It was much more than most pro staffers would do. For me it made it more fun because I was able to share some of texts with my classes and friends. You had kids in northern NY following along as well. So from me, I'm sending a big thank you for allowing me to be part of your hunts. Hope to see youu soon. Joe
dbHunterNY
Always a good time helping you out. It was just one year you didn't get a deer. We all have them at some point or another, some more so than others. I'm sure you didn't let any forum members down. How could you when you've had everyone involved in the practically the entire experience? Better luck next year and I'm sure most if not all of us will still be around and willing to help out again. I know I will be.
Turkeygirl
No, thank you Tim! Enjoy the daily updates and hey, being a ProStaffer is much harder work than would think...And now that you are back in NY...into the same snow storm probably...well Welcome Home;)
hammerforged
Tim, there is a reason it is called "Hunting" and not "Killing". I am proud and thankful to have been invited along for each adventure. It is about the experience not the always the harvest.

ruttinbuc
It was fun tagging along with hopes of you knocking down a slammer, Tim. Amazing how many factors can come into play in hunting these magnificent creatures. A lot of people had some great success this year, but a whole lot more didn't have any. The best you can do is put yourself in the best position you can and hope for the best. When it is all said and done sometimes it is just not meant to be. There will always be more questions than answers. It is this mystery that has us chasing whitetails in the first place. You can only hope you find the right seat. I am happy you got to see your daughter's concert.

NBomb500
Yep, it sure has been a lot of fun tagging along with your hunts on the forums Tim. Wondering if you were going to get the monsters!!! You may not of got anything but you can't say you didn't try! Hunting is alot of fun and its always nice to get the big buck, but what's more important is exactly what you said Tim, making it back for your daughters Christmas concert!!! Pretty cool! You set a great example for the rest of us!
