bigbuster
Guys this is my first post and would like to ask a question. I am looking for a Muzzleloader and the subject items have caught my interest. I have never owned a ML or even shot one, so If you have owned either or both, please enlighten me. Thanks in advance Jeff
jesse8953
Welcome to the realtree family. Both are good guns.I have owned the optima, good shooting but a little heavy.Stepson had the wolf, not as acurate at long distance as the optima but lighter to carry. We both sold our guns and got the t/c omega.I like the thumbhole stock and topped it off with a nikon omega bdc scope.I haven't shot 250 yards buy the 200 mark is dead on.Go to a shop and shoulder as many ml's as you can.Buy the one that fits you and your wallet the best.Good luck. Guest bowhunter56
Optima...!!!
marshall9779
I love my Optima Elite. It has the higher quality, Bergara barrel. I have a load shooting just under 3/4" at 100yds. It is a bit heavy, but for the money you wont find anything that shoots better.
billkay
The trigger on the Optima seems to be better to me than the one on the Wolf. I have both, as well as their Accura. The Accura has the best trigger of the three.
earnhardts12000
i have optima put 2 rounds through same hole today but have missed 4 deer last 2 days because of misfires sometimes muzzleoading is frustrating
Adjam5
I have the Wolf and it shoots OK out to 100 yards. It prefers the 777 pellets and 295gr Powerbelt bullets. It is a economy minded smokepole. The ram rod is flimsy and the stock could use a better pattern for gripping with gloves on. But I paid $135 for it without a scope. Can't go wrong. The Optima has a nice thumbhole stock and a bit longer barrel than the Wolf. Better velocities. It is also offered in a Nickel silver finish and camo stock. The Wolf just comes in black. The Optima Elite is a bargain compared to the T/C Encore. From what I understand it is just about half the price of the T/C. You have the option also to change barrels and calibers that the Wolf does not give you. Also look here for great muzzleloading info. http://www.realtree.com/bluelk/
Jeramie
You can actually buy the wolf with the same stock and such as the optima. The walmart by my office has one with a cammo thumbhole for $200 (nickle barrel). I have owned both. The Optima is a little better quality, especially when it comes to the trigger. However, dont knock the wolf. If youre looking for a cheap smoke pole to hunt deer with and youre not after the latest and greatest it will serve you well. They are a decent rifle IMHO.
