jesse8953
I use one.I got a bumb shoulder and I know I can make a good ethical shot with my crossbow.I have tried some of my friends bows and tears my shoulder up.So far I have never lost a deer [could loose a deer with any weapon] but I pratice a lot and take 25 yard or shorter shots.I have shot at 4 deer and found all 4 deer within 50 to 100 yards from my stand.I feed my family with deer that I harvest. As long as it is legal I know we won't go hungry in the winter. TBow
I don't use a crossbow, although I did buy one for my son a few years ago. It's an Excalibur and he loves it. I still use my compound and own a handful of longbows and recurves and I own an old home made crossbow that my grandfather built some 50 years ago. I've never fired it and it hangs in my "man cave" for display purposes only. In Ontario crossbows have been legal for years and I've never fully understood the bashing their use took. I figure we're all brothers and sisters in the hunting community and it's best that we stand together rather than bickering amongst ourselves. I have noticed in the past few years that crossbow usage has become more widely accepted and I've seen more and more states in the US adopt their legal use for other than persons with disabilities. I currently feel that the greatest challenge with crossbows, is in educating non-users and new xbow users to acknowledge their limitations. Far too many have the misconception that a crossbow can take down animals at distances that are simply stretching the limitations by leaps and bounds. Even in the hands of a well practiced crossbow shooter with an advanced model, 50 yards is stretching the outer limits for most. Something under 30 yards is more reasonable and those who talk about 100 yard shots are quite simply, out to lunch! TBow
camoman1
Wont get any guff from me. I dont own one, but if you love to hunt but cant physically use a bow, by all means use a X-bow. Welcome to the forums by the way!
Tominator
You won't get any bashing here. Post away bud. Welcome to the forums.
Stickslinger
As long as you are a responsible hunter I will not bash any legal form of weapon you choose. We are all fellow hunters, no matter what we choose to hunt with. Our numbers are declining in some states and anything that can be done to increase those numbers is fine with me. Just my 2cents. hammerforged
I hunt with a crossbow, been hunting with one for 12 years now since having neck surgery for 2 broken vertebrae. Can't draw a conventional bow as a result. I use a Horton Hunter 175 in Realtree HD.
whttlbucksteve
I wish I could have my daughter use one she cant pull back the 40 lbs IL. law says she has to.I would also rather use it then a gun if they allowed that as a fire arm.I am all for legal means and getting more hunters in the field. KirkV
I use one here in Illinois since my 2 shoulder surgeries. Love the thing because I cannot hold a bow back very long and it feels like someone has a ice pick driven in the joints! Like using it a lot, and welcome to the forum.
Tony
You won't get any bashing here. Post away bud. Welcome to the forums. thats right you wont get bashed, until we get to know you a little better..LOL.. post a way and welcome to the forums.. back when i lived in Ohio, i was going to Italy for 2 years when i was in the Army. so when i took my 30 days leave to come home i did it during Ohios bow season. i hadnt been able to practice with my compound bow a lot so i borrowed a buddies crossbow and did a few days practicing with it. i found right off the bat that you had to estimate range with it just like with a compound bow. once i became familar with it i went hunting and shot a doe. i was really proud of that doe, since i wasnt going to be ably to deer hunt for 2 years or maybe longer. i think they are a good way to allow guys to get into the woods when maybe they cant draw a compound or they just wish to choose another weapon. doubledrop
just wondering how many of us are on this forum, and how bad well get bashed. unfortunatly for some of us its the only way we can hunt. crossbow hunting isnt as easy as most think! I have both a crossbow and a compound bow. you will hear no bashing from me. that is your right to use what you want as long as it is a legal weapon. Does it really matter what people say about crossbows? there are far more important things to worry about than this.
