Very Irritated!

Last weekend My buddy and I decided we would go hunting friday after work since we only had to work half a day. We get to our spot (public land) and start getting ready. Since it is a long hike back in I decided I was not going to take my back pack and keep the load light.

After Hunting we get back to the truck and start packing everything back up. I notice my back pack was not in the back of the truck anymore. I asked him if he moved it and he said no. We started looking around and seen tire tracks from another vehicle. Someone had stolen my back pack!

It was in the bed of the truck with 2 bow cases, a deer dolly, and some of my buddys wool camo and waders. The only thing they took was my back pack. My pack had a pair of Bushnell 10x50 perma focus binos ($120) 2 field dressing knives ($50 each) a saw, gloves, beanie hat, bow holder, scent spray. I lost close to $300 dollars if not more in that pack.

I guess I learned my lesson. You can not trust anyone anymore. He is very lucky he was gone by the time I noticed.

Man that sucks, sorry to hear about it. There are some super shady people out there that would be better off having a long talk with my foot.

That happened to the Brothers from Iowa on Dream Season Redemption too...except they lost a camera and video of someones sons buck kill...

I hope that crap doesn't happen to you again...sorry to hear it.

Heck, I get angry just reading posts like this. It just Irks me when I think of someone pulling up behind my vehical and just helping themselves.

BUT...OH...Maybe that "finders Keepers, Losers Weepers" brain dead, Morally retarded, and Morally bankrupt rule applies here too.:rolleyes:

It makes you want to set up a game-cam beside your vehicle somewhere every time you leave it unattended.

Mike, that's terrible!!!! I'm really sorry to hear this, it sucks working hard to earn a check, and hopefully have a little left over to get some gear only to have some scum steal it!!!! At least they didnt clean out everything. Not only do you have to replace it all, but now you got to deal with the insecurity every time you hunt there.

sorry bud. :(

Back in 1963, worst winter ever. Had to walk to school in 3 feet of snow, nobody around to help, up hill, both ways, I was in the 2nd grade when along came a 6th grader, knocked me down and stole my lunch money. Did I complain? NO! you know why? because a week earlier the same dude jumped my fence and stole my 6 week old puppy my dad worked his butt off for in a coal mine. That dog cost $1,000. Plus as that 6th grader ran away with my puppy and lunch money, I threw snow balls at him. He will get his in the after life I'm sure......

:crutch:

Sorry 106, couldn't resist. :D

Too bad some people are so lazy as to take from others who earned.

You too eh :D Back in the late 50's for me, and it was 1 mile to and from school.

We had a bully in our neighborhood too. In fact I even remember his name. It was Laurence Sabanski . His parents owned Sabanski's Restaurant just around the corner from me. He was a really big kid, and I was a pretty small kid. He was peddling his bicycle past the playground one day, and yelling out obscenities to my friends and I. All of a sudden, something inside me snapped and I ran after him on his bike, grabbed him by the back of the shirt and threw him to the ground.

He never bothered us again ..LOL:D

Sounds like the Scotty Farkus affair.

"Scut Farkus! What a rotten name! There he stood, between us and the alley. Scut Farkus staring out at us with his yellow eyes. He had yellow eyes! So, help me, God! Yellow eyes!"

:D

Really sorry to hear about this, but would you leave your stuff in the back of your truck on public ground?

I don't mean to make you feel bad, but with a poor economy and high unemployment rate this type of thing is bound to happen. I'm surprised the thief only took your pack.

When I hunt on public ground nothing stays in the back of my truck. On occasion when my deer dolly is muddy I may leave it in the back, but generally it goes in the cab. Even when hunting private ground the only thing I'll leave in the bed is the deer dolly.

I left it in the back because the other 6 times we went there we have done the same thing and nothing had been stolen. It was a new public ground and only seen maybe 4-5 other guys there and talked to most of them.

I did not contact anyone. There is only one DNR officer for the entire county. I just chalked it up to a lesson learned.

I hate to say it but there is, unfortunately, an ever growing number of common thieves amongst us. I believe that it is best to keep everything locked up and out of sight. If locked in the cab it is still best to keep everything covered, as it is less likely for thieves to break in if they are unsure of the "prize" inside. I also have a hard tonneau cover that I make sure is locked to protect anything left in the truck bed. I have heard stories from other hunters who upon returning to their trucks at the end of the day find their tires missing along with the battery and anything of value that was inside. Every time I get back to my truck and things are as I left them there is a big moment of relief. I use a climbing stand and never leave it in the woods. Any trail cams left out on public land are miles from a road and unlikely to be found, but even at that, if one turns up missing I would not be surprised.

106 you should be ashamed for buying a pack in the first place....real hunters don't need such things. You left it in the back of a truck, someone else found it. You were asking for someone to take it, so finders keepers losers weepers...............

Thats what some folks would say.........

I on the other hand am very sorry about your loss. I hate a thief! I hope they get hung up in a fence the next time the cross one. :D
