cory46928
OK, been hunting for 4 years now. This is the latest I've been in the season. I had great action early bow and since mid november, haven't seen the first deer. We had a bunch of late season corn, but its down now. I sit around a few 15 to 20 acre spotty woods, are they hangen here? When is the best time for late season? Thanks!!
outdoor_girl21
I also hunt in northern Indiana and have had the same trouble seeing deer. I shot my first deer after shotgun went out, this morning off of a bedding area. i hunt a 20 acre corn field and a 70 acre bean field. bedding area did it for me. if you know where they are bedding try hunting near there and see if that works
layin on the smackdown
Its the typical late season scenario. You have to remember, there have been a lot of deer harvested by now, and the smart ones that have made it to now are even smarter. This time of year you will tend to see nothing at all or a bunch at a time. They are beginning to herd up, so its not the same as it was in October and November. Add to that the cold weather, and their patterns change. Deer move alot during cold weather, and fee alot too. Anytime is good, but i still always go for a hot food source in the afternoons. Good luck!
Diamond Archer 01
A similar thing is happening to me. During bow season I saw a ton of different bucks. Ever since bow season ended all I have seen are a lot of does. I noticed that when I see one doe I usually see three or four with it and I see them near food sources. buckee
Where did they all go? Aliens ... They were all abducted by Aliens. We had the same thing here this year from mid October until the last week or so in November. We were hard pressed to spot 2 or 3 deer per day, never-mind seeing any bucks. It was post rut, when things started shaping up around here, so I think the Aliens brought them all back after testing, sometime in late November. arrow32
I like to hunt food sources in late season. Late season is my favorite time to hunt sometimes I like it even better than the rut.
Neb. The Good Life
this time of the year is a little more difficult to hunt because the deer have new patterns, and they are a little spooky because of rifle seasons. Also keep in mind most deer begin to group up into larger herds.
