RangerClay
garage door opener? I never had one until I bought my first home. Last night it started acting up like gears are slipping inside. As near as I can figure it is about 25 years old. I hate having to drop $100 into a new one so close to Christmas.
layin on the smackdown
I just replaced mine, and it was pushing 20 yrs old. From what i know, you are better of dropping the $100 on a new one rather than paying to have the old one fixed. The motors on those things are good for 15-20 yrs i would bet, and thats about it. I may be wrong, but thats what i did. If you spend the money now to have it fixed, it will break again, and then you'll have to fork out more money to get a new one. stcif
My garage door opener seemed to be going one day so I kept pushing the button more and more. That should help ha? Well what I didn't realize was a spring had broken so now my door "weighed" a lot more. I ended up stripping a plastic gear in the opener. If I had noticed the broken spring I could have saved my door opener. Live and learn.

GWSmith
I'm suprised that with the weather your area experiences this time of year it's not frozen shut all the time! Your right in the "Lake Effect" snow belt off lake Ontario.
