I wahs the blood off with hot water, use a hair driyer to then dry them, then use a waterproofing powder (made for fethers) to fluf them up. it work ok but they never seem to get back to "new". is there a way to get them back to "new" what do you do? dogdoc
Re: feathers after the pass thru i don't shoot feathers but i think that is the advantage of feathers--they don't have to get back to the "new" look to shoot the same. todd
JimPic
Re: feathers after the pass thru To get feathers back to new condition just boil some water in a pot. When the water starts to steam, hold the feathers over the steam and slowly rotate the shaft. This will bring them back to normal shape. Bow Hunter Derek
Re: feathers after the pass thru I just wash them with dish soap and water. Let them air dry and fluff them up with my fingers. The thing about feathers is that the rougher they look (within reason of course) the better they fly. You want all the freying. It acts like dimples on a golf ball. It stablizes the arrow. I shoot my feathers till they are nearly falling apart before I refletch. maddhunter
Re: feathers after the pass thru [ QUOTE ] I have only taken one deer - but if that is the only deer I will ever taken - or if I take 50 more deer - we have a place in my fathers garage where we hang each arrow - blood soaked and banged up - we simply put two nails in the wall - and lay the arrow right on top - we have a few up on that wall from me, my dad and brother - and each one is a memory I shall never forget! [/ QUOTE ] I have every arrow I have used to take an animal with, still in it's original form after the shot. Best way to fix them is to get it redone, not that exspensive. Tominator
Re: feathers after the pass thru Strip them off and put new ones on. It's easy, fun and pretty cheap.

Guest gfourhunter
Re: feathers after the pass thru after a bow kill i retire the arrow for doing its job or cut the fethers off and refletch.
