Tim Horton Tabs

I know this ain't exactly an "outdoorsmen" type topic, but most of the guys I know or hunt with, usually start a premorning hunt off with a trip through the drive through lane at Tim Horton's. And one thing that can annoy anyone whose popped a tab on a Tim Horton's double double, knows the cursing it can cause when it won't stay securely down and either keeps jumping back up to hit you in the nose or mouth, or else you destroy the plastic top trying to rip it off.

Well here's one solution I've learned to address the problem of protruding tabs on that morning cup of joe at Tim's:

1. When you peel the tab back, rarely will it stay down without some gentle persuasion.

2. Once it's peeled back, squeeze the upright tab between your index finger and thumb just slightly enough to alter the rib to be slightly tighter.

3. Then push back what was the outer rim portion of the tab to sort of stretch it or elongate it.

4. Then push the tab down into the slot that it was actually designed to fit into, but rarely does.

That ought'a hold it down. And that's my tip to give you morning coffee shop hunters the edge!

Am I bored? You betch'a! It's gon'na be a long cold winter!

Shaun,

I was in Ottawa yesterday to move my youngest daughter from Greenbank to over to Aylmer. As I was on Carling Avenue (with my Tim's double double in hand), I near wore it as Carling felt like I was driving over speedbumps every 30 or 40 feet for a mile or more. The trip back home took over 2 hours for a drive that is typically 50 minutes. I was down to 30 or 40 kilometers at times as the driving conditions around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. were terrible. Plus I had to line up in the procession on 416 behind two plows on two occasions. Just to break the monotony (and to keep awake), I pulled into Kemptville midway to grab, what else, a Tim Horton's double double.

KentuckyTurkey,

If I said that Tim Horton's coffee is the unofficial Canadian national drink (just slightly ahead of Molsons and Labatt's barley sandwiches of course), I don't think there'd be too many people to dispute it here. If you ever happen to stop into any Canadian minor hockey rink, you're sure to catch 50% of the parents sipping away on a Tim Horton's coffee (probably laced with Bailey's Irish Cream.......DANG them hockey moms sure know what they're doing! :))

Carling Ave has to be the WORST road in Ottawa, it's like driving on railroad track. If you have a Timmies coffee on the go in the cupholder while driving down Carling you're guaranteed to lose half of it from it splashing out while driving.:hammer1:

When my sister-in-law and brother-in-law were in the Carribean last month, there was a group there from Kingston they met. One man in that group had taken some Tim Horton's paper coffee cups with him and one of those paper trays they give you to hold 4 or 5 cups. He'd walk the beaches on the resort with whatever refreshments he chose in the cups, but brazenly showed off the brown paper cups as though he was king of the Carribean. The brother-in-law told me that just about every Canadian on the beach was drawn to this guy with the Timmy's cup like a magnet, asking him where in the heck the T.H.'s coffee and donut shop was! Great ice breaker!

AH you can take the Canadian out of Canada, but you can't take Canada out of the Canadian! ;)
