Diamond Archer 01
I was wondering if any of you guys have shot the diamond iceman or if you currently own one. If so, I was wondering if you like this bow or not. I am thinking about getting one, but I don't know a lot about it. Any opinions will be appreciated. ricfirefighter
the 09 iceman is a sweet shooting bow, with no hand shock and very quiet. The 10 is suppose to be even better but haven't shot it yet, but that is what I expect my new bow to be.
The_Kat
for the same price or cheaper you can get a hoyt turbohawk which in my opinion is a much better bow.
craig mack
I shot in a league with a guy who shot one. It was a very nice bow, even though I never shot it. Very quiet and plenty fast. Go out to a pro shop and shoot it and see if it fits you.
Diamond Archer 01
Thanks guys. I went to go shoot it today at gander mountain and the guy in archery didn't know how to change the module so the draw length on it was 29 when my draw length is like 27. I am gonna go try to shoot it again on tuesday because they got a guy working who knows how to do stuff to a bow.
The_Kat
before ya buy get me a price.....
Diamond Archer 01
The price of it was 649. I don't plan on buying it til a little after christmas. The bows at gander mountain usually go down a lot after the season ends. I have a local archery shop about five minutes away from my house that sells hoyt bows. Can you tell me more about the hoyt turbohawk?
The_Kat
Seriously check out Hoyt's turbohawk. They are 499$ and you can rig it out for 150$ easily. Shoot em both cause I think you'll see the Hoyt puts the Diamond to shame. Nothing wrong with the diamond line by any means, but they are a lower end bow. Theres a world of difference between a lower end bow and middle to upper end ones.
Diamond Archer 01
Alright, thanks. I just checked it out on the hoyt website and it looks like a pretty sweet bow. I am going to take a ride down to the local archery shop this week to look at it and maybe even shoot it. I will keep you posted about it. danthehuntinman
I have shot the iceman and I personally don't like it. I shoot the black ice and I have never had a problem with it. I have also shot the rock and its really nice for the price you can't go wrong with it. All diamonds I have shot are very quiet and fast. I have never heard of the diamond bows being considered on the low end of the bows.

Diamond Archer 01
I have a question. What is the difference between the hoyt turbohawk and the hoyt powerhawk. Is the turbohawk newer or something?
The_Kat
I'm too lazy to look, but I know the risers are different. The TH is essentially a alphamax 32 with a cast riser instead of a machined riser.
Tom2008
The Iceman at 70lb wasn't to my liking at all. I've shot a 60lb model and loved it. A great shooting bow for sure, but you can't go wrong with a black Ice or Turbohawk.
cray8705
I shoot the Diamond Justice, and it's a great bow. I also like the Iceman and was very seriously thinking about getting it. To say that Diamond are a lower end bow is absolutely ridiculous and false. One thing I can tell you about the Diamond line is that you aren't paying for a name like you do with other brands. danthehuntinman
Thats good someone else agree's that diamond isn't a low end bow.
The_Kat
your missing the point fellas....but Merry Christmas anyways. As long as you like it then thats what counts.
cray8705
I don't think we are missing the point, I don't want to sound like an A-hole, but it seems that people who use hoyt or matthews think that those are the only high-end bow out there. They are great bows, but Diamond / Bowtech offers everything in their bows that hoyt does. Diamond in itself has low-end to high-end bows available, just like any other brand. I really dont know where hoyt is made, but I know Diamond is made in the U.S.A. To me that says higher quality and more pride goes into making them then if they were made over seas. It seems like people who spend a lot of money on Hoyt just don't want to admit that there is an equal quality bow out there at a lesser price. Maybe I am completely wrong about all of this, but I just don't see how Diamond can be considered a low-end bow. danthehuntinman
Just like cray8705 said every company has their low end bows. Really shouldn't matter what people want to shoot its how the bow fits them. If its a $200 bow and its fits them really well and they shoot good then it doesn't matter. Diamond has some bows that are around $700 thats not close to being a low end bow. So price shouldn't matter its how a bow fits a person. The_Kat
I don't mean to come off as an a-hole either but you are wrong. All major bow companies have a LOW END set of their bows. Mathews has misson, Bowtech has Diamond, Hoyt has theirs ( can't think of the name ). The bows are not made of the same high quality product. Does this mean they are junk??? No it doesn't....did I say that? No I didn't. Like Dan says if ya like the bow and it shots for you then great. I simply wanted to let you know you can get a middle to high end bow for the same price as the diamond iceman which is a low end bow. If you knew so much, you would obviously know that Bowtech owns Diamond bows. You'd also see where I included Bowtech in the high end spectrum of bows with Hoyt and Mathews. Ask any archer who shoots bows alot and they will agree with me here. Every Diamond bow that comes into any competition with the exception of the black ice is loud, rattles, and usually the owner comes over to the guys shooting the upper end bows going man I wish I woulda got one of those instead. FYI I was simply trying to inform the OP that he could get a middle end bow that outperforms the diamond line for a cheaper price. Never did I say a Diamond was junk.... Guess it's a crime for someone who shoots alot of bows and might just know what they're talking about to share a little insight with a fellow archer. Without me telling him about the TH he would have never considered it and would have just settled for a Diamond. Maybe he'll like the Diamond better, but at least he knows he has options. I was going to settle for a Hoyt Alphamax but thanks to a forum member here shedding some light on the Turbohawk, I went and shot it and saved some money. I thougts that what this forum was for??? Alot of people I know really like the feel of the Truth series of bows by Fred Bear.....guess what, they're considered low end too, but they shoot great! Low end doesn't mean it shoots bad! That being said, as long as you like the bow and it is comfortable to you, then thats what counts.:hammer1:
DocMort
I have shot almost every bow on the Market to include hoyts carbon matrix and I still say that the Iceman I bought in feb ranks in the top three, 1. Omen 2. Z7 3. Iceman 4. Truth II
