ruttinbuc
is a dead coyote! The first one was a roadkill that was still warm. I almost ran over it. I pulled off the road and drug him off to the side for a picture. The second was probably shot by a hunter during six day buck. I didn't see any on stand yet this year. They will be shot on sight! :gun1:
wtnhunt
Yep, best kind for sure Mike. Had 6 come through one morning in the deer stand, if I had been able to find them in my scope I would have shot every one of them I could. No surprise we are getting a few trail cam pics of them. I sure don't see anything wrong with them, they are one of the smartest and keen sensed animal out there, and that is what makes them just awesome to hunt. In order to hunt an animal, you really need to have respect for them, or else why do you bother? Anyways...I don't want to take all of the credit for knowing all this...sureshot has really opened my mind on this issue. If you talked to sureshot about this, your view on coyotes may change! Adjam5
So you cannot hunt them with rifles huh? Bows, shotguns and MLers only. Wow lots of NJ predator rules. Must be in possession of a calling device, rifle permit for a smokepole, .10 or .12ga only with specs on the size shot. Are you guys allowed to use artificial light to shoot them? More rules in NJ than people...and that is a lot! Yes, you can use artificial lights in the night hunting by permit. You can't use dogs then, but you can use them in the early seasons except for the 6 day firearm deer and the first antlerless shotgun day...... arrow32
Got that right the only good one is a dead one.
wtnhunt
Pretty screwy regs there for sure Mike. For the most part yotes here are open year round and can be taken with any weapon. Still planning to hunt yotes up the road some this winter after deer season closes.
Jeramie
Its the same way here William. Season is open year round, no limits, no regulations really of any kind. The only restriction is not use of artificial light.
samfinden
Lousy Coyotes I'm proud of those of you who are controlling the pesky coyote population. Yesterday I saw one whilst guiding a snowmobile tour here in Steamboat Springs, CO, and my hand went to my hip immediately. Unfortunately, with clients close behind, I wasn't at liberty to take care of business (or at least attempt to!) He had a beautiful, thick winter coat that would've looked really good on my wall! I'll let you all know if I get another crack at him. Happy hunting, Sam http://www.samfinden.com Hunting and Fishing Short Stories Online.
