Turkeygirl
Any tips for hunting squirrels in the winter? I always do well in the fall but come snow on the ground, I'll see their tracks but never them....Is there a better time of day to hunt them? In winter I never seem to get out till late afternoon.... Hunt or be Hunted
what i found out is. find where there at, where there tracks are. and then set a tree stand up there. Because they will be on the ground eating. that's what I'm doing this year. and its really working. i got about 7 squirrels so far this year in 1 spot. Turkeygirl
Might try that...Going to try to get out today, had a bit of a snow melt. Cold but no snow or rain so those tree rats should be out digging up what they can find....like a .22 bullet from my gun,lol
Ravin R10 man
Sunny days for winter squirrels, find where they are feeding and sit tight.

OUTSIDER
I usually have my most success during the month of January, midday hours in particuliar. I hunt with my .22 mag so i can shoot them out to 100 yds or so, I always sit in one spot on the warm slopes where i hunt. Usually within 20 minutes of sitting down i am seeing them. This year in my area, we had a mast failure, so it will be interesting to see what they are doing in jan.
Turkeygirl
Yeah, here to mast was down considerably...so I think they are hitting the corn more..
