Turkeygirl
I'm looking into a new game for the computer, have to order it online. Our computer meets most of the system requirements but the aholw graphics card thing I'm not positive about? I emailed the game producer to find out if our system would be compatible with the game. Weh ave otherg ames that play just fine on the computer with different graphics card requirements, but I wanted to make sure before spending the $. Basically what I'm wondering is if a game that says the requirements for graphics are Nvidia GForce6800 or ATI Radeon x850 (minimum 128mb RAM) will work on our computer that has the Radeon X300 with 128 mb RAM? Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
What game is it Ruth? I use a site called canyourunit.com It has a big list of games, you click on it and it analyzes your computers hardware and system software and lets you know if it meet the requirements to play that game. Turkeygirl
It's called Farming Simulator 2009:D:clown::angel1: Was just recently made available in the U.S. earlier in the fall. Checked your website, don't think they have it on there, yet anyway...

brad dryden
Played the demo and kinda stinks that you are timed. Other than that its good.
Leo
Your best bet when determining if the game will run on your PC is always to download the demo and try it first. Then you can determine if you need new drivers, a memory expansion or a faster graphics card.
mossyhorn
It is always better to have more then min. Just because it run doesnt mean it wont lag or even crash. When Black and White 2 came out I had the min requirements and it always crashed on me. Finally played it through when I got a new computer. Might want to consider more ram and upgrading you card. It is cheap and you can do it yourself, just order online and snap it in place in 5 minutes. Well video drivers will take a few more minutes. Or try adjusting your virtual memory settings higher. May help a little bit but a new stick of ram is better. Edited December 28, 2009 by mossyhorn
Turkeygirl
Any ideas where to get graphics cards that are cheap-ish? From what I've seen, they run into the $100's of dollars, which is just nuts...
Turkeygirl
I'm also not sure about downloading the demo, since our internet - Verizon wireless, only allows 5000MB a month..
Turkeygirl
:-( Downloaded the demo, said some error message and needer some shader 2 thing...so I guess this means not a big enough graphics card. Oh well...

Turkeygirl
Yeah, seen that one as well...not sure even that may be too much. I was looking into John Deere Drive Green and 18 Wheels of Steel Extreme Trucker (I know, me and machines, lol), but not sure of those will be too much as well, even though they are less than the Farming Sim. brad dryden
the 18 wheels of steel it was nothing like I expected. To me it was kinda hard to steer it was to sensitive but some people liked it. The game just wasent for me. my brother bought a new computer for $500 on ebay that was refurbished and SMOKES my computer. I have the HP slimline and its really more then what I need I bought it at Wal-Mart for about $500. Shop around and you can get great steals on computers. Leo
Yep Mossyhorn, I like Newegg too. You also need to know if your computer needs an AGP or PCI Express interface card. Some computers have both slots in their motherboard but that's rare nowadays. Practically all of them that are less than 2 yrs old have PCI express sockets only. Your current graphics capability may be "Onboard" (meaning the graphics card is physically part of the motherboard). Onboard cards "share" system memory. An intensely enough graphics application will cause a "fight" between the operating system and the graphics chip for memory resources. This "fight" usually shows up as slow downs and crashes. On "shared" systems you often need twice the minimum recommended memory to run the game. A good graphics card with it's own dedicated memory will really give an older system that uses shared memory a boost.
