christsavedme
Just looking to get some advice/opinions from y'all. I shoot a Matthews LX.....and I am looking to outfit it with a new rest and sight. Just wanting some input on what everyone recommends. Don't want to spend alot of money......so keep that in mind. Current outfit is QAD Ultra Hunter Drop Away..(The cheap version) TRU-GLO Extreme Sight with Micro Adjust....(Hate the mc adjustments...already broke two T-handles trying to get them tight enough to not move.) Anyways...just thought I would throw it out there for your intake... Thanks ahead, Josh
Ethan Givan
For a rest I really like a Whisker Biscuit. They are simple and not too expensive and yet they work really well. As far as a sight goes, I was going to recomend a Tru-glo sight but then I saw thats what you already have. lol G5 makes some good sights, might look into them. They can be a little pricey, but they are really nice.
Prairiepredator
Personally, I like Spot Hogg sights, but they are pretty expensive, the only thing I really would complain about is the micro adjustable pins. If you do get a spot hogg, get one with the fiber optic wraps. If you are looking for something a bit cheaper, some good brands are cobra, truglo, and toxonics(my brother has one and loves it). Take a good look at Toxonics, they make some cheaper sights and some more expensive ones. Whisker Buiscuit rests are okay but are a bit hard on the fletchings and if they get wet, they won't shoot properly(unless they are waterproofed). Some other good rests are the NAP quicktune 360, trophy taker rests, and octane.
Huckleberry1
Here's what i know Hey Josh, I've been to Olive Branch ,had a friend living there for a short time. Anyway, I too use the Whisker Biscuit and love it! As far as sights i'm using the Extreme 1100 Bone Collector (kinda pricey $100.00) but they have really good sights in the $50.00 range too. One thing i can tell you about Extreme is that they stand behind thier product! Had a problem w/ pins coming loose and they sent me the parts i needed (shorter screws and new sight pin rail) at no charge! No more problems. Make sure you've got enough vibration dampening! Sims Vibration Labs. is where i put my $$$. Seems to be the best. Those are just my opinions,so do your homework and go from there. True, whisker biscuits are kind of rough on fletching if you shoot the longer 4 inch vanes, but I shoot the 2 inch blazers and the WB doesnt hurt them at all. I also bought some spray stuff from cabela's that waterproofs the bristles and keeps them seperated. Works good, I have never had a single problem out of mine. Straight Shooter
Whisker biscuit would be a great decision and Extreme RT 900's for a sight. You can find a good price on the WB on AT's classifieds, probably around 35.00 to 40.00 for the Deluxe edition. I'd buy a new RT 900 and they run around 60.00. As for the WB not shooting properly when wet, I beg to differ on that. I've never had a problem with mine shooting off the mark when wet. The fletchings, blazers are the best vanes out there in my opinion and do not get worn by the biscuit.
fly
I have a WB and really like it. However, it will cost you a few fps in arrow speed (worse with plastic vanes than feathers). Next rest I get I'm considering the Octane Hostage rest by Diamond. Does the same thing as WB, but less effect on the vanes/feathers. As far as sights go I'd recommend getting one with all green pins. The red is the first to go in low light and the orange/peach color goes next and last to fade are the green. SchuLace
From what I have been reading on here and other sites, the WB is a pretty good site. I have a drop away on my bow that I just got and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. If I am in the market for a new rest I think I am going to be going with a WB. Turkeygirl
I switched to a WB this year and I like it alot. Don't have to worry about the arrow falling off or making noise,etc... My sight is an Extreme RT900 I picked up off archerytalk for a good price. Nice and bright, good sight. I think probably any of the Extreme's are good and I see they make a lower priced one. buckee
I really love my Whisker Biscuit. And yes, Bohning vanes are the best vanes to use, with no problems whatsoever. I also like my Tru-glo sights, because they are the brightest pins I have found in a sight, which can really make the difference in that last 10 or 15 minutes of legal shooting time. I'm going to take my sights even one step further (when I can afford it) and switch to the Tru-Glo tritium pins. Those babies glow in the dark all by themselves. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp;jsessionid=PPYC0FX1HR4ENLAQBBKCCN3MCAEFKIWE?id=0004623414880a&type=product&cmCat=perf&rid=0987654321&cm_mmc=Performics-_-CSE-_-nextag-_-40020459&mr:referralID=449cb2a2-f6eb-11de-8544-000423c27407&_requestid=37727 Edited January 1, 2010 by buckee
cray8705
I was shooting a quick tune drop away and was having some trouble with the arrow falling off when I drew back. I just bought and installed the QAD ultra drop away. It has a little bar that keeps the arrow contained. I haven't shot it yet, but I really like the drop away so i'm sure I will like it, and it was really easy to install. Check it out.
