How fast

After being stuck behind people in parking lots, on sidewalks, on hiking trails or just about anywhere, who walk at the pace of a turtle with two broken legs, I have to wonder if I'm just not normal when it comes to walking speed. I already know I'm not normal otherwise so there is no need to comment on that. I am just curious. How fast do you normally walk? As for me, on level, or nearly level, unobstructed ground I cruise along at about 4 miles per hour. Even in the mountains I usually am pushing 2 to 3 mph most of the time and I'm not a youngster any more. If I'm still hunting it is a different story and have had days where going a mile took closer to 8 hours but that is a different story. How about you? Are you a plodder or do you stride out and eat up the miles?

Used to walk 2.4 mile round trip over the summer in just about 30 minutes. Guess I'm right around 4.5-5 mph. Mostly wooded with some sidewalk mileage.

Now hiking speed I slow it down to terrain, conditions and what I'm packing in. Can probably cut my speed in half at least but still move along at a pretty good clip even with a pack on my back and a smoke dangling from my jaw.:smoke:

I am sort of in between most of the time. It also depends who I am hunting with, to some people I seem slow and to some people I seem fast. When the adrenaline is rushing and I am pretty excited I can walk quite a ways going a pretty good pace without getting tired. Most of the time I usually take my time because I am never in too big of a hurry.
