elkoholic
After being stuck behind people in parking lots, on sidewalks, on hiking trails or just about anywhere, who walk at the pace of a turtle with two broken legs, I have to wonder if I'm just not normal when it comes to walking speed. I already know I'm not normal otherwise so there is no need to comment on that. I am just curious. How fast do you normally walk? As for me, on level, or nearly level, unobstructed ground I cruise along at about 4 miles per hour. Even in the mountains I usually am pushing 2 to 3 mph most of the time and I'm not a youngster any more. If I'm still hunting it is a different story and have had days where going a mile took closer to 8 hours but that is a different story. How about you? Are you a plodder or do you stride out and eat up the miles?
Ravin R10 man
I'm always being told I walk too fast..slow down..
woolybear
Used to walk 2.4 mile round trip over the summer in just about 30 minutes. Guess I'm right around 4.5-5 mph. Mostly wooded with some sidewalk mileage. Now hiking speed I slow it down to terrain, conditions and what I'm packing in. Can probably cut my speed in half at least but still move along at a pretty good clip even with a pack on my back and a smoke dangling from my jaw.:smoke:
Strut10
I walk fast. It's partly the job and partly the long legs. I've had guys (when I wasn't around) tell others that I about killed them trying to keep up with me when there's a gobbling bird two ridges over. Alisha
I walk fast when I'm out shopping somewhere (typically to get it over with!) but when I'm in the woods, I creep along. Hubby walks ahead and makes fun when he stops to wait on his beloved turtle of a wife. :clown:
buckee
Diana has always told me I walk too fast, but I think she just walks too slow ..:D
wtnhunt
Too fast so I am told. I actually have a hard time walking slow enough for the wife to keep up.
Adjam5
If I am on a mission, like say going to the store. Get outta my way. I really really hate shopping, unless it is for guns . If we are walking through the woods...I go very slow to soak it all in.

Texan_Til_I_Die
Based on the fact that I'm usually passing people in the hallways and rarely get passed, I'd say I'm a fast walker. Now driving, that's a whole nuther story...
fly
Walking, eating, getting something done, etc... I'm always going full speed. I try to slow down when walking with people, but just can't help it. People always tell me to slow down. I'll bet my body will even decompose faster than most when I'm in the ground. hunterbobb
I walk slow. I like to look around as I walk. I've seen a lot of things I would have missed if I had been walking fast. :gun2:
Prairiepredator
I am sort of in between most of the time. It also depends who I am hunting with, to some people I seem slow and to some people I seem fast. When the adrenaline is rushing and I am pretty excited I can walk quite a ways going a pretty good pace without getting tired. Most of the time I usually take my time because I am never in too big of a hurry.

ruttinbuc
Steve b should have been one of those mountain marathoners. He took me up a butte last year on our antelope hunt and had me huffin'! Goat wasn't there.... Anyway, it depends on what I am doing. Sometimes I want to stop and smell the coffee and other times get out of my way!
sluggunner
Very fast!!! I din't know the actual speed, but I am always walking faster than everyone else around me. I am always the one who has to slow down and wait for others to catch up.
