Missilelock
I am playing with my Christmas present today at work...new camera. So anyway this is what I do for a living.attached is 2 links. The one with the beard is Butch my cutter, & I am in the other. This is how its done in real life- not that staged garbage on tv. Ravin R10 man
TIMBER!!!...Only us crazy loggers love the "CRASH"!..I didnt see safety chaps on the first guy, unless those are winter pants. I have stafety issues with both videos..the first one the sawyer did not retreat at a 45 degree angle away from the tree huge no no! On the second tree he was "chasing the cut" with the chainsaw prob not a big deal on a sound dead tree..but do that on a live oak you gonna barber chair. He also back cut the entire tree, another no no!... the chainsaw was jumping out of the cut several times..with a leaner like that one was...its hard enough to keep up to the fall with a forward cut. Id rather see him do a bore cut, that will tell you if the tree is a sound one or not... then do side cuts, and finally release it from the back. Be safe, every tree can kill you. Nice flat looking stumps by the way..good job! Edited December 31, 2009 by Mathews XT Man
Tominator
Good stuff. I was kind of ducking though when he was cutting that dead one. :crutch:
KirkV
Neat but I think they put that hearing protection on the helmet to go over the ears not the side of the head. Glad you got them down safe though.
MCH
Spent 13 years cutting trees. The majority of the time it was up in a tree with a small Husky and a rope. No safety belt. No chaps. No ear plugs. Nothing but me, the saw and a rope to tie to the limbs. OSHA would've had a field day.
