wtnhunt
Don't have an encore, but will probably be taking a .270 with us when we got out west to hunt for mule deer and antelope, may also take my 7 mag. There are plenty of good options, would think anything starting at the .25's and up would be a good choice.
WEBFOOTII
Love my 270 tack driver
Tecumseh
I use a 280 Reminton barrel on my Encore, I'd look at a 7mm-08 or a 7mm mag.
hunterbobb
I have a 280 Ackley Improved from the custom shop that I love. If you want to stay with a standard barrel my vote would be for a 270 Win. :gun2:
snapper
If you have no riffle barrels now...I'd opt for a .300 win mag! It will more than do the job for speed goats and muley's...plus you'll have a great cal. to go elk huntin' in the future!
origloopr
encore barrel I did a lot of research before I settled on a .308. It depends on what you want, things like recoil, price and availability of ammo, whether you will be reloading or not. I don't reload. It all boils down to personal choice. Check out ballistics on the calibers you are interested in and make a choice, I love my 308 sighted in at 200 yards. It is awesome.

Tim Andrus
I have a 280 barrel, love it!!!
DocMort
Just remember with the 300 win and the 7mm they both are going to hit you pretty hard.. If it was just for speed goats, something like the 25-06 would be great but if I was going to hunt big game I would go with the 7mm or
Ohiobucks
Might I suggest a 30.06 Springfield, blued barrel with a walnut forearm, model #1752? I have one for sale if you are interested. Less than 50 shots through it.
Shaun_300
.25-06 or .280 would be my choice!
