I was originally going to pull the trap and set up elsewhere due to the fact that I hadn't seen any sign since punching the set in. But look what was floating belly up when I arrived! Not a big one, but it was memorable in that I spotted it about a half a mile away and then stalked in to make a 273 yard shot. The wound you see is actually the exit hole. the deer ran about 40 yards after the shot and the only blood trail I found was within 5 yards of where he fell. He took it at Elephant Mountain WMA in FAR west Texas on a youth hunt through the TPWD. Also a couple of sheep heads that had been picked up on the WMA. And a couple of scenery pics. Last and but not least for me, here is my 2009 Wyoming mule deer. This buck still has me looking at the pictures of it and I can't wait till I get it back from the taxi.
