Turkeygirl
We are really trapped in some Arctic stuff here and it's only the beginning of January. 0 or below windchills today....doing barn chores was a killer...And more is coming....wind chilld below 0 tomorrow and lake effect snow on the way, maybe a foot or 2...Guess the new snowblower will get a work-out. Wish I would get word on a job but I am glad I'm not making a 45 minute drive each way in this stuff....:turned: You know it's really cold when I won't even go check my trail camera...Have not checked it since Monday afternoon...this is a new record for me,lol:p Everyone be safe out there and bundle up! My hands are already chapped from last weekend fishing...the redness and soreness finally going away. Every year around this time they get chapped...it's a pain, literally. RangerClay
I hear ya Ruth. We've had close to 2 foot of snow in the last 48 hours. Add the cold to that and its just plain unpleasant. Edited January 3, 2010 by RangerClay
Adjam5
I agree Ruth. It is just plain nasty out there. The flap on the range vent is slapping back and forth in the kitchen. We are in the mid teens here downstate and loving it on my couch:p. Stay warm and I hope the snow don't hammer you guys too much.

Strut10
Stinkin' raw here today. Wasn't bad this morning. I was set up on a field edge in a climber calling 'yotes. A bit chilly and a little breezy. But not bad. Went out after lunch with my dad to measure a field (less than 20 minutes with the laser). Bitter wind hitting my face made my forehead hurt worse than most any headache I ever had. It's 11 degrees here, now. I hate winter.

wtnhunt
Pretty chilly here. Was a wind chill of 5 in town when I walked out this morning, think it was a little cooler here especially down around the frozen water.

Ethan Givan
Well I will tell you what I tell anyone that complains to me about the weather. Its all in your head. It aint cold, so quit reminding yourself. Made it to 25 here today but the wind was blowing pretty good. I spent a couple hours out in it and it wasnt exactly pleasant. ruttinbuc
Yes TG, is downright cold here, too. Put a damper on my plans to go hunting today. It is supposed to be here for awhile. My Arctic Shield keeps the wind off for the most, but the deer will be sitting like rabbits in the thick stuff.
The_Kat
HeHe, I just checked the forecast for Alaska and with the exception of Fairbanks, it's colder in the lower 48 and even here in Oklahoma than it is up there most of the week! We made it to 41 here....down to 36 now.
RTF
It's just brutal out there with well below zero windchill. Been snowing here since Wednesday and plenty still to come. Winds are gusting to 40 MPH on my hill. Got to head out in this crap in about an hour to drive the wife to work.

TXCountryboy
Im in Texas and this has been a weird year. I know it usually is cooler here with El Nino but this was in our top 10 for coldest Decembers on record. It snowed more this month than in a typical year or more. Plus the Christmas eve blizzard. I can't wait to see what my electric bill is like...all electric heat here

GWSmith
I dont miss the hip-deep snow back in New York where our home is. But the reminders of what it's like followed me here...LOL I finally had to break down and switch from walking the dog in shorts and a t-shirt to putting on a pair of sweat pants and jacket...last night it was 19 degrees here and the windchill brought the temp down to 10F. stevebeilgard
HeHe, I just checked the forecast for Alaska and with the exception of Fairbanks, it's colder in the lower 48 and even here in Oklahoma than it is up there most of the week! We made it to 41 here....down to 36 now. most of southeast alaska, from juneau down to ketchikan, has never had a recorded temperature below zero. most folks don't know that. it's 42 degrees at my place in alaska today, and 22 degrees here.
