Adjam5
Is there anyway to get some heat under the house to thaw out the pipes?

Guest TennesseeTurkey
Is there anyway to get some heat under the house to thaw out the pipes? I think its the pipe that goes from the meter to the house buried undergroud... if it was the ones under the house how could we get heat in there? Adjam5
Will, I have seen the kerosene type blowers. They look like small jet engines...know what I mean? Used to blow heat into crawl spaces and under homes to thaw out pipes. If you think this will be a continuing issue in the future, I would advise you to install heat trace tape around the water main and meter where it comes out of the ground and leave the tap dripping/running on the faucet farthest away. Shaun_300
Yikes that's cold Will! It was -25 here a couple nights last week and my gran's pipes froze too. Thankfully we got them unthawed fairly quickly.
stevebeilgard
here's some friendly advice: learn where your curb stop and inside the home shutoff valves are before you thaw out anything. if a pipe bursts, there's little time to learn where your valves are. i have two torpedo diesel heaters out in my shop. stop by if you want to borrow one.. lol

BrandonBowling21
the trick is to leave the water trickling not fast just a gradual drip and as long as there is that little trickle theres a great chance they wont freeze thats always been our trick out here! HUNTINGMAN
I remember my aunt and uncle always used the heat tape mentioned above, may want to get some insulation wrap for the pipes and you could put a couple of heat lams under your house around the pipes. FireStrut
I hate frozen pipes. I normally let the water run just a little at the kitchen sink over night. I would rather do this than to dig up water pipes.
Guest TennesseeTurkey
water came back on about 2 hours ago... I opened up all the faucets for about 2 hours and BINGO
Jeramie
I think its the pipe that goes from the meter to the house buried undergroud... if it was the ones under the house how could we get heat in there? People around here put space heaters under homes when they freeze up.... I wouldn't suggest building a fire.
